A couple canoed to a secluded riverbed camp and set up torches for the night. After dark they heard distant splashing followed by a long loud scream that shifted from high-pitched to angry and low. Frightened, the husband retrieved a gun and they remained uneasy through the night with no further incident.

While deer hunting with a companion, the witness walked toward a creek bottom and heard loud rocks being struck together repeatedly from about 50-75 yards away in thick timber. Two companions arrived early for deer hunting and sat waiting in a parked truck with the windows down before dawn. They heard repeated sets of seven very loud heavy knocks, with knocks near the truck answered from several hundred yards away after a few seconds, continuing for about eight minutes. A passing truck stopped, shone a spotlight toward the sound area, then left quickly, after which the knocking stopped.

During a daytime hike up a drainage on 10 Sept, the witness stopped at an old hunting camp and heard two clear wood knocks about 150-200 yards away. After confirming by radio that no other participants were nearby or knocking, the witness knocked back and received an immediate two-knock reply from slightly farther away. Further knocks and whoops over about 30 minutes drew no additional replies, and no movement or odor was noticed. The witness then returned to camp and later revisited the area by ATV with others.

On the return they heard sounds suggesting something was following them, and the women in camp reported rocks being thrown near camp and brush moving. The witness was bowhunting alone from a deer blind in the afternoon when gibberish-like hollering approached from behind the blind and grew closer. He looked with field glasses but saw nothing, then smelled a strong foul odor and felt intense fear. He left the blind with an arrow nocked and hurried toward his truck, hearing loud vocalizations paralleling him from the woods. He reached his truck and drove away without ever seeing the source.

On many nights he was awakened after midnight by repeated long moaning sounds and at times heard walking sounds near camp, but a flashlight search revealed nothing. A creature passed through the campsite toward the river, then ran back and into the woods behind the camp, seen only as a fire-lit silhouette. During a multi-night group expedition the witness slept locked in a truck parked on a logging road above the tent camp. At about 4:30 a.m. something struck the truck, waking the witness, who remained still with eyes closed and heard heavy bipedal footsteps walk away down the road. After a radio mic click apparently drew it back past the truck, the steps departed again toward another camper's position, who also reported hearing movement. The episode lasted about 15 to 20 minutes and involved no visual sighting.

About two years before reporting, the witness was riding a bicycle with a companion on a rural county road near Calhoun, just over the line into Walker County. From woods bordering fields the witness heard several loud sounds like heavy wood knocks echoing. The witness first assumed construction in the woods but later thought the sounds could have been a Sasquatch because the area was only woods and fields. The companion did not notice the sounds and the witness has not returned to the area.
