The next morning the storage room was found in disarray with the door off, faint scratches without tool marks, and frozen foods missing.

After climbing down from a deer stand and walking to the edge of a soybean field on a full-moon night, the witness saw a very large standing figure about 30 feet away near the woods. In 1972 the father was hunting on a trail with the mother when he saw a large black hair-covered creature standing behind a small tree staring at him through his rifle scope. The witnesses waited, fled on the motorcycle, and later returned by car to retrieve their gear.

A large blonde-brown female sat about eight to ten feet away feeding, yawned showing human-like teeth, held his hand, and fed chewed berries to a toddler. A large dark male watched from behind, a juvenile female appeared nearby, and after vocalizations and a tree being thrown down the group left.

After making camp the group heard loud hysterical-like screams alternating between higher-pitched, baritone and child-like sounds. A woman walking nearby said she had heard the screams and thought she saw a mountain gorilla across the road. The witness did not consider the sounds to be coyote or cougar.
