A tall dark upright figure crossed the two-lane road in three quick steps, showing long human-like bent legs, wide shoulders, and a large long head with a flat side-profile face. The witness stopped to watch, then drove forward but could no longer see the figure.

While hunting elk and glassing a snowy mountainside with binoculars, the witness saw a tall brown figure walking upright on two legs along a distant ridge. The figure moved quickly, paused to look over the valley, then walked back the way it came and disappeared into the trees. The witness was hiking a mountain trail with three children who had run ahead. He noticed a large upright hairy figure moving behind the treeline about 50 to 100 yards away, watching it for less than a minute as it moved through brush and woods. He did not alert the children at the time and did not photograph it. About a year later after seeing a television program about similar sightings in the area, he decided to share the experience.

A professional driver was driving an empty bus eastbound on U.S. Highway 160 near Mancos, between Cortez and Durango, shortly after sunset. About 150 yards ahead, the witness saw a large, entirely dark, muscular figure on two legs dash rapidly across the road from south to north in two to three seconds. When the witness reached the crossing point, thick woods on both sides hid any further trace, and a second driver traveling behind did not see the crossing.

The witness opened the camper door expecting a bear and saw a large dark upright shape about forty feet away moving swiftly into the timber. He then continued down the trail anxiously without photographing it.

The witness was driving west on a snowy highway at night when headlights revealed two upright, furry figures walking in the middle of the river. The witness pulled over and watched them from about 30 feet away, noting human-like shape with long arms, elbows and knees, and a face-to-face look with the nearer one. After passing them and getting out to look upriver, the witness waited several minutes but the figures did not reappear around the bend, then drove home.

They heard persistent huffing and a growl, experienced silence and a sense of being watched, and reported a dark shape blocking a camper window. When leaving they later found muddy primate-like handprints high on the camper and a trailer lock twisted and broken.

While stopped at a picnic-area parking lot on the Pike's Peak road, the witness stood atop a large rock formation while a parent prepared to take a photograph from below. The witness reported noticing a black, large-bodied creature in motion about 100 feet behind the parent and shouted for the parent to look, but the parent did not turn. The creature was gone within a few seconds. The witness stated the animal was not a bear.

The witness was hiking with dogs on a packed snow trail when other dogs began barking at something ahead. He saw a gorilla-like furry creature sitting in the shade of a pine about 50 yards away watching the dogs. After he tripped in a snow hole, the creature left over the ridge, showing only the back of its head. Deep snow prevented him from following or finding tracks.
