Late at night while driving on a dirt service road for utility work, the witness saw a tall, thin brown-haired creature step into the headlights and cross the road at an angle. The witness watched for about 15 seconds as it took a few long strides between juniper trees before disappearing. After driving away in fear, the witness returned the next day with a co-worker and found widely spaced footprints leading east.

The witness group was camped in a Sierra County campground and walked to an outhouse at night with a small flashlight. A team of four was conducting a nighttime sound survey from a clear-cut overlooking a river valley while one member did a live radio interview from a parked vehicle near the treeline. The interviewer heard repeated charging sounds, footfalls and a grunt-growl from dense brush a few feet away while two teammates uphill watched with a night-vision device. The uphill observers reported a huge 8-foot-plus figure about 25 feet away leaning side to side to look through the trees and moving its arms. The episode lasted about 30 minutes, followed later by a distant scream, and a next-day search found disturbed soil but no footprints.

Two men had finished dredging for gold and were talking when they noticed a large dark creature about 100 feet away partly behind a dead tree and tailings pile. The headlights illuminated a tall, greyish hairy figure standing on two legs and leaning on a wire fence beside a cornfield. After a few seconds the figure turned and ran on two legs into the corn toward nearby woods.

About 25 to 30 yards away they watched a large hair-covered human-like creature with long arms repeatedly striking the water for up to a few minutes. The creature then left up a steep bank without clearly looking at them, and the men later reported ground disturbance where it exited.
