The witness was deer hunting in the New River Gorge when he noticed movement about 60 yards away. Looking through his rifle scope, he watched a large hand against a poplar tree and then a head with large eyes peering at him for about 20 seconds before it stepped back behind the tree. He did not shoot, heard no sounds of departure, and had to pass near the location to leave the woods.

Early one morning the witness was standing beside a house making a phone call for work when a tall, hair-covered figure stepped from behind a tree and looked toward the witness. The witness then watched an animal drop from a tree about six to eight feet up, land on its hind legs, take a few upright steps, then move to all fours and run quickly into the treeline. The witness fled toward the highway. The animal was described as large, muscular and fur-covered, tan or light brown in the moonlight.

The witness sat on a slope glassing bedded deer during the mule deer hunt. A large black bipedal figure crashed through dense brush uphill, moving gracefully and quickly out of sight over a ridge. Despite prior experience with bears and mountain lions, the frightened witness loaded his rifle, backed away without turning, and drove off.

The witness was driving at night on a road through a swamp area when headlights revealed a large hairy biped standing in the road. As the witness braked and approached, the figure appeared on the roadside about 10 feet from its original position without being seen to move, then vanished toward the swamp. The witness stopped within about 20 feet and described the figure as about 7-8 feet tall with dark hair tipped with silver-grey and a deep chest.

The witness's wife also saw the figure and described it as orangutan-like but more upright. Shortly before midnight during a multi-camp expedition, the witness borrowed a handheld thermal imager to look for the cause of a branch break near camp. Through the imager he watched a large unclothed human-like figure partly behind a tree about 30-50 yards away for over two minutes as it moved its head, dropped to the ground, crawled and gestured, then stood motionless with its back to him. He left to get recording equipment, but the figure was gone when another researcher checked moments later.

The witness was riding as a passenger with a relative driving home when they first noticed a large crouched figure by the roadside. After turning around and losing sight of it, they saw a tall, dark reddish-brown shaggy upright figure cross the road ahead of them in two steps. The figure moved quickly, did not look at the cars, and disappeared into roadside bushes, after which the witnesses left the area.

On looking up, the witness saw a large tan-brown creature with short clumped fur and a hump on its back. The creature ran into the woods, the witness ran back inside, and tree banging was then heard.

Across the creek he heard movement, then turned on a flashlight and saw a large hairy creature that fled into brush, shaking trees. On the afternoon of August 11, 2007, the witness was resting near the Pacific Crest Trail in the southern high Sierras when he noticed two upright, dark-furred figures about 200 yards away near a deep canyon. He watched for about 10 minutes as they moved around close together, apparently looking at the ground and unaware of him. After he made a coyote call, both figures quickly left his view down into the canyon.
