Late night sighting by boy walking near Mills River
The witness was walking through a field to a friend's house late at night when they noticed a dark figure standing at the edge of pines. After watching briefly, the figure turned toward the witness, screamed for an extended period, and ran on two legs into the woods with visible arm swing while crashing through brush. The witness was frightened, continued to the friend's house, and reported no further sightings.
Tracks found before Christmas, near Hendersonville
During a December 2000 snowstorm evening the witness's normally calm dog reacted intensely as if an animal was outside. About two and a half hours later the witness found a single line of very large, deep, widely spaced footprints in snow crossing the yard from one wooded area to another. The witness compared the prints to their own boot and stride and judged they were made around the time of the dog's reaction, but blowing snow had obscured detail.

The witness was driving through hills and forest in North Carolina in the early morning while two companions slept. A small brown shaggy creature with a pointed head crossed quickly in front of the car with its arms swinging. The witness braked hard, missed the creature, and woke the companions, initially comparing it to a robed figure.
