Vocalization in Washington (2024)
Account
Over several days camped at the end of Gypsy Meadows, the friends heard owl-like hoots that turned into whoops, answers from two directions, and a fast-moving loud chatter likened to Sierra Sounds that crossed the creek and meadow. They found a 14.5-inch print, an X of bent and twisted trees, an 18-inch wet road print with a fresh 9-foot tree break, deer beds watched by bipedal impressions, daytime whoops with 16-inch prints, and 16.5-inch tracks with a long stride. Recorders captured loud close hooting, distant howls, whistles, footsteps, rock clacks and metallic banging.
