Hikers hear possible vocalizations near Poodle Dog Pass outside Monte Cristo

The witness and a companion were hiking on a steep trail when birds fell silent and repeated whooping sounds approached from the hillside above, accompanied by a strong wet-dog odor. They waited on the trail without seeing any movement until the sounds and odor faded and birds resumed. The witness later said a recording on a research site exactly matched what they heard.
