Tree break near Newport, Tennessee
Account
On a sunny windless afternoon the witness walked her leashed dog toward the creek and heard a whoo answered back. A forty-foot tree fifteen feet away began shaking violently with cracking sounds while no other trees moved, crows flew out screaming, and the tree fell toward her. She dragged her 130-pound dog and bad knee out of the way and took pictures.
