At the refuge the witness found several six-by-six foot reed nests crisscrossed and woven near clear water with big toe tracks and footprints leading into four feet of water. Off the main path she also found a ten-by-ten foot hut like a beaver dam far from water with a tiny front opening. She poked her keychain light inside, heard a non-human growl, fled, and snapped a partial photo of woven sticks.
