The next day the witness walked the same trail later in the day. His attention was drawn to an area where something seemed out of place, and he saw an enormous jet-black upright figure standing still behind a 12-foot spruce tree. He could not see its face or tell which way it looked, perceived it as watching the trail and uninterested in him, greeted it as big brother, and walked away to the toe and back without further incident.
