An experienced hunter smelled a strong odor that burned his nose, then watched squirrels flee without climbing trees. He heard three loud bangs nearby and answering quick bangs farther away repeating. Frightened, he backed to his truck with pistol; a museum contact later called it Sasquatch communication.
