About two football fields from the prior laughing incident, the witness saw bright red eyes about three feet off the ground that looked like a crouched mass. As he approached it stood to tower over him, revealing black hair, gray skin on face, chest and palms, and wide shoulders. It growl-barked, stared at him, then backed silently into the darkness and vanished.

After evening-shooting a large deformed buck that ran into the woods, the guest returned at dawn and crawled into a low briar tunnel to follow blood. A tremendous growl vibrated through him, heavy stomping approached, and a towering shadow loomed over his back with visible flexing fingers. He talked calmly while backing out, then fled. Two days later he found only the deer's ripped-off head with crumbling bone.

After shooting a deer that visibly went down, the guest returned with help and lights to follow blood to where it lay. The deer was gone and in its place was a terrified female beagle wearing a hunting collar from two counties away, which had to be carried out.

While culling deer after his grandfather died, the guest sat on a stump and twice saw a big black shape swaying behind a small tree. On the second sit a squirrel erupted loudly to one side with sounds like hand-slapping mimicry while the shape appeared closer, prompting him to leave the woods.

He reported seeing large moving shadows including a couple huge ones with smaller monkey-like movers, hearing owl-like hoots that were not right, and hearing drums.

Throughout childhood the family experienced constant strange activity on the farm including murmuring voices, something calling names in the mother's voice, rocks thrown into the pond while night fishing, hammer-like knocks, whoops, nightly crashing like a falling tree that never hit ground, and moving smells. Visitors felt watched and refused to return.

The guest's two young cousins tried camping in blankets tied by the creek next to the planted evergreens. Within an hour they fled back to the house saying only that something big, black and loud had frightened them, and never returned to the woods.
