After feeling uneasy they started the vehicle and noticed a large crouched figure with red eyes about 30 yards away. The creature took three to four steps to cross, stepped over a guardrail, and walked up a steep hill into brush on the right side of the road. Two occupants driving on Highway 54 west of El Dorado Springs at night reported their headlights illuminating a tall, hair-covered biped crossing the road. The creature crossed from right to left and stepped over a guardrail without breaking stride, then continued through a field where cattle moved away from it. Witnesses judged it to be over seven feet tall based partly on its size relative to the cattle.

After the husband turned on exterior lights, the witness saw a large shadow move quickly away from the house toward nearby woods. Shortly after, both heard a very loud double whoop vocalization twice, which the husband said could not have been an owl.

He heard a single sharp knock from below the dam, then felt overwhelming fear and retreated to the house before returning. After shining a powerful green laser toward the swampy area, something crashed loudly down the hill breaking trees, and next day he found freshly snapped trees.

They then heard an unfamiliar ape-like yowl and huffing sounds from the same direction. They saw nothing and left the area immediately.

The witness and a companion were driving on a highway bordered by treelines and weeds near dusk. About 50 yards ahead, a large dark hairy figure emerged from the treeline on the left and crossed the road diagonally on all fours. They slowed to avoid hitting it but continued driving without stopping. The witness described it as unlike any known animal, with long front arms, squat rear legs, and dirty matted hair.

On a later cooling-season trip about a mile further down the river, the witness and her son again found similar large prints around pools of water. The prints sank deep and were surrounded by piled opened clams. She could not explain them as human or known animals.

The witness was driving slowly on a rural road late at night after dropping off a relative. After braking for a rabbit, the witness reported seeing a tall ape-like figure running on two legs toward the vehicle. The witness accelerated away while the figure continued advancing toward the vehicle.

The witness was walking at night along a road by City Lake Park when he saw a tall, thin, hairy figure about 70 to 100 feet ahead pass under a park light. He described it as about 7 feet tall with long legs and ape-like hairy arms with several inches of hanging hair. Frightened, he turned back toward town. He says he walks there almost every evening and had never seen anything similar.

Possible nighttime encounter while camping near Potosi
The witness was camping in brush with family members. About 4:30am on the first night he awoke to a strong skunk-like odor and a feeling of being watched. He rolled over and made out a very broad-shouldered silhouette with a head between trees about seven yards away. He turned away without telling family and waited for daylight, and the group left early after two nights.
