Early 70's, Sighting by a deer hunter, off of Highway # 2, in the San Grabriel Mountains
Two hunting companions in a steep canyon area reported watching a brown figure about 700 yards away across the canyon. The figure reportedly stood up and walked on two legs uphill with a slumped posture for about five to six seconds before going out of sight, at one point possibly dropping to all fours on steeper ground. The witnesses first thought it was a person or a bear but felt its walk looked too odd for either. The encounter is said to have occurred on a clear warm afternoon in the fall in the early 1970s.

About 15 years before reporting, the witness and a friend paused at a saddle near Smith Mountain while hiking. They heard a very low growl/snuffling sound from tall bushes nearby that they could not see through. Frightened, they left quickly without investigating, and the witness later wondered about the source after seeing nearby reports.

Two companions driving home from skiing at night in an open convertible saw a large hair-covered biped jogging on the dirt shoulder ahead of them. They slowed and pulled alongside to within about ten feet, watching it eye-to-eye in moonlight and headlights before it ran down off the elevated highway. Both occupants viewed the creature, noting its muscular build and human-like surprised expression.
Three children have daytime sighting near Eureka
As children, the witness and two companions were fishing and walked up an old logging road when they heard a noise and saw a creature across the road in the trees. The creature stayed in cover across the road and kept pace as they ran back down toward a clearing, at times getting ahead then stopping to watch them. Once they reached the clearing, it was gone.

During a July 1996 daytime search near Bluff Creek, the witness crossed to a glade and found a small cedar with its top freshly twisted off several feet up. The break and stripped bark looked moist and recent, and the detached top lay at the base. The witness photographed the tree and carried the top back to camp.
Family finds large footprints and hears strange sounds near Pollock Pines
During a family walk on a mountain logging trail in the late 1970s, the group heard branches breaking around them. Near a recently fallen tree they found a wet blood-like substance on the log and a very large fresh human-like footprint that dwarfed an adult man's boot. The group quickly left the area and returned toward the cabin.
Hunters are intimidated out of their hunting ground near Bear Valley
Two deer hunters reported that after a rock flew over their heads in a meadow, something unseen paralleled them down a trail for about a mile while throwing or rolling large rocks alongside them. Back at camp that night all four hunters heard a large tree fall across the creek after noticing an unusual absence of wildlife all day. Believing something did not want them in the valley, the group packed up and left that night.
Camper at Mill Creek Campground heard three screams that echoed through the forest
The witness was camping and woke early at dawn to walk to the campground bathroom. They heard an extremely loud echoing yell three times that they felt was not from a man, bear, or wildcat. The witness did not see anything and ran to the bathroom frightened.
