The witness was fishing from a boat with two young companions on Riffe Lake late in the morning when they spotted a large hairy biped about 150 yards away in a clearcut. They watched for several minutes as it walked away, paused to face and stare at them, then continued walking while looking back before disappearing into timber. The witness stated the subject was not human and was not a bear.

The accompanying dog began growling and barking, and the witness saw a very large figure cross the road in about two steps and disappear into the woods about 30 yards away. When the witness walked toward the spot with the dog and a flashlight, the dog refused to advance, a strong musky smell was noticed, and cracking sounds in the vegetation moved toward them, prompting the witness to return to the car and drive away.

The witness was kayaking on Sullivan Lake with family when she passed a rope swing on a steep bank. She saw a very tall, silver-furred, human-like figure sitting still on a stump watching her from about 15 yards. After she looked ahead and back, the figure was gone with only bushes moving. Later that evening her niece, who had been ahead, asked if she had seen the figure by the rope swing.

A driver and a companion were driving north on Highway 109 near Moclips in evening light when a stocky, dark brownish animal crossed the road in front of the truck. The animal then ran on all fours in the roadside ditch, keeping pace with the truck at about 35 mph for about 10-15 seconds before disappearing. Both occupants watched it but could not identify it, noting longer front legs, uniform hair, and no snout or tail.

On the afternoon of May 9, 2002, the witness was traveling toward Mt. St. Helens and looked down into the Toutle wash. The witness saw a dark, long-armed figure walking through the creek heading northeast for about 5 seconds, judging it much larger than a man from its stride. The driving companion did not see it. They stopped and scanned the area for 10-15 minutes with no further movement, but noted disturbed ground where it appeared to leave the woods.

Two companions were camping overnight on a fishing trip near Sullivan Lake when they were awakened by a distant crash and a musty odor. A second, louder crash close to camp was followed by a grunt, and the narrator saw a tall gray-furred shape through the tent mesh that fled when lit by a flashlight. Both spent the rest of the night in the truck and left the area the next day.

About eight years before the phone interview, the witness was riding horses with his wife on a logging road in wooded country when he saw a dark animal cross the road a couple hundred yards ahead. The animal moved quickly on all fours using long arms and then disappeared into vegetation. Three hunters were sleeping in a tent at an elk hunting camp when one stepped out around 2:30 a.m. to urinate and swept a flashlight around the perimeter. An unseen animal nearby emitted an extremely loud, long scream lasting about 10-12 seconds and fled through dense timber up a steep ridge, continuing to scream from a great distance. The sound woke multiple nearby camps and was described as unlike any bear or cougar, and no sign was found the next morning on frozen ground.
