The witness hiked into dense timber to scout for signs and found arches, tree breaks, and woven saplings. After hearing an unexplained sharp noise from the hilltop, the witness waited and then heard two distinct clacks described as rocks struck together. The witness then left the hill and exited the area.
Hunter encounters freakishly large tracks in a field south of Cresco
The witness was hunting on public land in northeast Iowa just before dark when they found large single-file tracks in snow crossing an alfalfa field. The stride was far longer than the witness felt a human could manage in that snow depth, and the prints were later described as men's size 13-14 without visible toes. The tracks were estimated to be a few days old and were heading east.

Early one morning the witness was standing beside a house making a phone call for work when a tall, hair-covered figure stepped from behind a tree and looked toward the witness. A tall upright creature came into view about 50 yards away, stopped, stared at him, and crouched after he clicked off his shotgun safety before continuing on and disappearing. He did not shoot, then ran back to his truck. He later described a foul smell lingering after the encounter.

The witness and a male companion were helping move into an isolated old farmhouse in Iowa in March 2007. After moving until late at night around a large bonfire, a huge creature revealed itself by shaking and breaking a large oak tree about 20-30 feet away while producing an extremely loud vocalization. The two men fled into the house, barricaded the doors, and hid until sunrise. In the morning they found the oak severely damaged with snapped limbs and cracked trunk.

The witness looked through a gun scope and saw a large black hair-covered creature 30 to 40 yards away running away through dense brush like a person with arms raised. After it went out of sight the witness sprinted back to the truck and left.

Two companions were sitting at the edge of a harvested field at night making rabbit distress sounds to call coyotes. After hearing twigs snap, they saw a large dark man-like figure showing its upper torso and glowing eyes on a small hill at the treeline that did not move or speak. They returned to camp to confirm their companions were still there, retrieved a shotgun for safety, but the figure was gone when they went back.

The witness was night fishing with two companions by a fire on a riverbank. After hearing an unusual noise from across the river, the witness saw a very large, hairy figure moving in the dark. When a flashlight was shone on it, the figure quickly disappeared into the woods and was not seen again that night.

A couple driving on an unimproved road in the early morning smelled a strong odor and then saw a large hairy creature standing beside the trail about 50 yards ahead. The creature looked toward them briefly before turning and walking away into cover with long strides. The husband later described the encounter to an investigator by phone, while the wife declined to discuss it because she was frightened.

Over two nights a group of five gathered outside on the property for hide-and-seek and heard strange noises. The husband and a companion went to investigate and saw an entity 50 yards away hiding between two silos, noted for goldish reflective eyes, with a second smaller similar entity present on the last night. Tracks with reported measurements were found where they investigated.

When they turned on a camera light they saw red eyeshine and fled in fear. The video did not capture the creature, and later daytime return visits found bones, fur, and a dead deer nearby.

The witness and a companion were walking in woods overlooking a river when the witness noticed a large hair-covered figure out of the corner of his eye. The figure was seen standing in tall grass from about 15 yards away, showing the upper body with wide massive shoulders and a dark face. It left the area quickly and silently without a trace.

A man was duck hunting with his young son in a public hunting area near Pella when they paused to watch a crane. He then saw a tall, solid-white figure on two legs run across the trail about 40 yards away, moving very fast and quietly. He searched for tracks but found none because of leaf cover, then left feeling unnerved.

The witness was driving home at night with two other occupants in the car after a ball game. With high beams on, the witness saw a large shiny black furry figure walking upright as it quickly crossed the road. The witness did not stop and did not tell the other occupants at the time, so they did not see it.

The witness was walking down a trail in daylight with snow on the ground when a nearby deer appeared to be looking at something behind it. The witness then saw a tall, slim black figure with a human-like torso about 300 feet away. After briefly hunkering down, the figure turned and bounded away through the trees, disappearing in about three seconds.

The witness and a companion were camping in separate tents. Around 2:55 a.m. the witness was awakened by footsteps circling the tent and stopping behind his head, then realized the companion was still inside his own tent. When the witness moved to go outside, the unseen visitor crashed away through trees toward the river. Neither camper saw anything, and both reported feeling watched all night.

The witness and a relative were in a ravine and heard a loud growl and howl near a gate as they prepared to leave. They ran toward a nearby building. The witness looked back and saw a tall reddish figure by the gate watching for about 20 seconds before it turned and went back into the woods.
