A relative of the reporter was sitting by a tree while elk hunting when a pine cone flew past from an unseen direction. The relative stood and looked toward the source and then heard loud crashing sounds moving away through the woods. The location is described as very remote with little hunting pressure.

The witness was walking his two dogs behind his house in the early evening when the dogs froze staring at the woods and then fled inside. The witness then watched what he first thought was a 3- to 4-foot stump stand up into a 7- to 8-foot hair-covered biped. Two people bow hunting in swampy woods heard distant knocking and noticed trees shaking. While on a small hill they both saw a large reddish-brown animal crouched behind a large stump at too great a distance for details. They then left the woods.

The witness reported walking back along a trail after making calls with no response when he found a very large footprint and a scat pile containing vegetation and shell fragments. Moments later he saw a very tall, heavily built, dark brownish creature about 70-80 feet away that had been digging at a ground hornet nest. The creature then ran rapidly down one ridge and up another at a speed the witness felt could not be matched, and disappeared. The witness then collected his things and left for his car.

After a companion fell asleep, the witness decided to walk home late at night along a road bordered by young planted trees. Something in the trees paced him from the side, stopping when he stopped and continuing when he walked. When he tried to look larger and shouted, he heard deep grunts and saw two small trees shake vigorously. He called a nearby friend for a ride and kept shouting until he was picked up.

He heard a sizable thing ducked in tall grass making separate hand and foot adjustments over a six-foot span but saw nothing even shining a bright light over the fence. A sharp stick break in the woods then alarmed him and he left.
