The witness and his wife were awakened around 3 a.m. by loud screaming sounds outside their home. The witness went to the rear deck with a shotgun and heard prolonged commotion including shaking trees in multiple spots, breaking limbs, running footsteps approaching the deck, and aggressive grunting very close by. They did not see anything, kept lights off out of fear, and then heard what sounded like several large creatures retreating to the tree line. The next day they found pushed-over bushes and freshly broken branches.

The witness was squirrel hunting in the woods in the early morning. After trying to flush a squirrel by hitting a tree trunk with a stick, he moved on and heard distant knocks. He then looked back and saw a tall hair-covered figure peering from behind a nearby tree, after which he fled.
Possible activity at a home south of Williamsburg
The witness was house-sitting at a friend's rural property and walking from the separate garage to the house around dusk when they heard two loud wood knocks from the woods behind the house. About a minute later they heard a close, distinctive whoop from the same area in the woods. They stayed outside several more minutes but heard nothing further.
Possible encounter while hunting near Northfield Falls
On two November 2015 mornings the witness sat in a remote hunting spot before sunrise and heard close-range tree breaks and knocks followed by a scream/whoop vocalization shortly after turning off a light. Conditions were clear, cold and very quiet on both occasions. The witness, an experienced outdoors person, said nothing like it had happened before or since.

A family was camped in a trailer near a treeline with a deer carcass stored nearby. During the night the family was awakened by rocks hitting the trailer, knocking sounds, growls, screams and whoops. The witness later went outside with a flashlight and saw a single glowing red eye high in the treeline. In the morning stacked rocks were gone, footprints were found, and a large pine by the carcass had been pushed over.
