Whoop in Iowa (2023)
The guest and a friend arrived at dusk to camp in a remote state forest and set up tents and a fire. They heard a very loud whoop from the tree line, followed by six knocks in pairs and movement breaking branches in a ravine. After a quiet period they heard close vocalizations including a whoop, rapid chatter and a deep yowl, then saw a dark crouched outline lunge into the forest, after which they abandoned camp and drove home.

A group camping near a river spent three late nights walking north of their campsite to look for Sasquatch. They claim loud tree knocks, howls, grunts, heavy bipedal movement and red glowing eyes, plus a shadowy figure that rose from about five feet to about eight feet tall. They also claim a glow stick left on a gravel road was later found moved to the base of a hollow tree.

The witness stopped on a park bridge after work and felt uneasy and watched from the wooded riverbank. A large log crashed into the river nearby and was seen floating, followed by a low huffing sound, though no creature was seen. The witness inferred the log had been thrown from the forest floor and left quickly feeling scared and shaken.

The witness and a male companion were helping move into an isolated old farmhouse in Iowa in March 2007. After moving until late at night around a large bonfire, a huge creature revealed itself by shaking and breaking a large oak tree about 20-30 feet away while producing an extremely loud vocalization. The two men fled into the house, barricaded the doors, and hid until sunrise. In the morning they found the oak severely damaged with snapped limbs and cracked trunk.

The witness and two young relatives were riding three-wheelers by a creek and had dismounted to walk through woods when they encountered a strong sewage-like odor followed by a loud guttural roar. Frightened, they left their vehicles and ran uphill to the family residence. Family members who returned to the site with them still noticed the odor but found no source.

Two people fishing at night from a riverbank shined a flashlight across the water and saw red eyes and a large dark body in overhanging limbs. The animal stood upright, waded toward them with loud splashing steps, then turned downriver continuing to walk bipedally while making a low guttural sound. The witnesses retreated to a nearby campground where the splashing remained audible and a dog was heard howling.

Four girls were riding horses on a moonlit night when their horses stopped and focused on a hilltop ahead. They heard a loud guttural growl mixed with vowel-like sounds and wood snapping, which frightened them. They galloped back to the farm where they were staying. The next morning they found a small wooden corral they had built on that hilltop broken apart.

The next night the husband saw a dome-headed shadow from shoulders up outside the second-story bedroom window, then heard it move toward the bean field and let out a moan-like cry.

Over late summer into fall the guest and his wife repeatedly heard something in the woods by the painting studio baying, whining and almost crying in the dead of night. It occurred every couple weeks, about half a dozen times, and shining flashlights revealed nothing. The sounds then stopped and did not recur.

They heard several sounds like poor impressions of owls, then coyotes, and hills to the west and northwest erupted with many similar callers for almost a minute. The sound then changed again to an indescribable impression before fading, and the friend left.
