The group fled toward a residence while hearing branches breaking, prolonged howling and screaming, and trees being beaten.

The witness saw a bipedal creature stop, come downhill toward the yard, and break through an electric fence before looking around and walking quickly away over the hill. A family camping at Sunrise Beach heard branch-breaking sounds overnight and the next morning found a very large footprint in a dried creek bed. Shortly after, they saw a large brownish hair-covered creature watching them from behind a tree on a hillside, which then walked away toward the campground road. The father also reported seeing it cross the road ahead while lifting a wire out of its way, and the family quickly left the area.

From the tent flap the witness watched a tall broad ape-like creature pry open the troop food box and eat bread and donuts. After another boy shouted bear, the creature stood upright, tore down the tarp, vocalized, then walked quickly between the tents into the woods.

On a weekend morning the witness and two companions walked down a trail toward the back fields and noticed a strong odor of death and wet dog. The witness saw a small hairy juvenile peeking from behind what proved to be the leg of a very large female standing motionless in a clearing. After he pointed at her she roared, the group fled while hearing screams, howls and chatter around them, and the next morning a large log they played on was found broken.
