The witness and three friends went ghost hunting at a remote cemetery in a forest late at night. After hearing grunting and footsteps paralleling them on a footpath, the friends fled while the witness turned to face a very tall dark figure swaying side to side that changed expression on eye contact and huffed, exposing a foul breath odor. When a friend shouted his name, the figure leapt away, and the witness ran to the car.

He heard a loud shrill scream lasting several seconds and then saw a large man-like figure running through a park toward the woods. The witness and their partner were sitting by a fire in their yard at night when cattle behind the house began bawling and running. The partner called the witness to the side of the garage where a tall shape stood motionless in the moonlight. The partner threw a steel pipe at the shape, which did not move, so they assumed it was a tree and went inside. The next morning they found no tree at that spot, but flattened grass and two trails leading through the pasture, and recovered the thrown pipe.

The witness was backpacking alone and set up camp above a ravine in the evening. After hearing rustling below, the witness used a flashlight and saw a tall dark-haired bipedal figure hiding behind trees about 40 feet away. The figure moved to another tree while being watched for 2-3 minutes, then ran down the creek out of sight. The witness remained by the fire until daylight and found no prints in the morning.

The witness was deer hunting from a familiar tree stand and had been there about two hours when loud deep breathing, snorts and bellows were directed at them from nearby. The witness caught only a brief glimpse of a tall upright shadow moving swiftly but could not get a clear view through the scope and did not fire. The source of the sounds then left very loudly, and the witness was too frightened to immediately check for tracks.

Before sunrise during deer shotgun season, the witness sat against a tree near a damaged bridge and dozed off. After hearing a twig snap, he saw a tall dark figure walking with long strides along a trail and crossing the washed-out bridge without breaking stride. He first assumed it was another hunter, but later realized no other hunters were present and the figure wore no orange.

After firing a shotgun into the air, they saw the moonlit outline of an upright human-like figure running toward the water's edge while making an unfamiliar howling sound. They also noticed something that looked like a large footprint but were unsure about it.

The witness was waiting above ground while two companions explored a pit, sitting reading in a jeep in a grassy clearing. He noticed a dark form moving in the treeline and called out, thinking it was the landowner, then moved to a power-line opening for a clearer view. The figure paused and stared for about 10 seconds, appearing as a 6-7 foot tall biped covered in long dark brown fur/hair, before walking away into the trees.

As an adult, the witness and her son went to the barn about 10 at night to find paperwork. A huge dark figure entered the other stall door, blocking it and breathing audibly. They backed out to the house, and the thing then burst out and crashed through the woods loudly enough for a neighbor to hear.

The witness relays a story from a friend who as a child played in the same woods and repeatedly saw a large black shape. The figure stayed in the woods and ran deeper when approached, so the children never got close. The friend called the figure Blackie.
