While the witness waited at a fire, two companions went into a hollow after hearing noises. A large dark figure walked directly behind the witness without being heard. The son saw it silhouetted against the firelight with its head above a ten-foot branch.

The witness was walking an old mining trail near a mining claim when a foul odor and sudden silence caused intense fear. Something in low brush paralleled her as she moved toward the truck, stopping when she stopped. On the fourth stop a dark head peeked out and blinked before she fled to her husband at the mine.

The researcher was sitting in a truck with two companions near Mount St Helens when a bluff charge occurred. They heard pacing, a tree knock, heavy footsteps running toward and past the truck, then branches breaking as the animal walked away. No one was struck and activity stopped afterward.

A fellow researcher was hiking on the Missouri property before the group camp and noticed something pacing him. The figure stayed low and repeatedly popped its head up over the crest of a hill. He filmed the behavior with a GoPro camera, and the area became known as Crawler Hill.

The property owner was hunting from a tree stand when something stepped out of the tree line, walked along it, and went back into the woods. The sighting frightened him enough that he later asked for company to retrieve his stand. He subsequently contacted researchers to investigate the property.

More recently while in woods about a hundred yards behind his house with his girlfriend, the guest experienced something rush toward them and stop about twenty yards away. Immediately afterward something unseen began snapping baseball-sized limbs high in the trees while he felt a threatening presence. He told his girlfriend not to run and eased out of the area.

At about fourteen the guest was night-fishing with his father on phosphate-mine land when his father boated out to full traps and left him alone on the bank. He heard sticks breaking and louder thrashing, then saw movement in myrtle bushes and a tall tree shaking violently while a loud whoa-whoa vocalization sounded. He fled to the locked truck, and his father dismissed the sound as a cow.

At the current home, the witness regularly hears indistinct mumbling like distant talking near the fields around dusk, especially when corn is planted. With binoculars she sees things moving in and out of the tree line, and finds many footprints in the fields.

The witness said her brothers were repeatedly followed while squirrel hunting in the woods. They would start early in the morning but often gave up and came back because something kept following them through the woods.
Rock throwing
An email writer described being alone at midnight by a lake at his summer campground while on break. A rock-sized object struck his shoulder, followed by a deep subwoofer-like growl from behind. He turned to see a creature turning and running away with heavy footfalls, then fled to his camper.

At about age 12 the witness carried a dead turkey up power lines to throw over a fence. Walking back he noticed something huge pacing him through trees where he could see through to a field. He told his father and grandfather it was some man on the hill.

On other occasions over several years there was the sound of crashing movement in brush near the house.

On the third night three people hiked toward the hill and saw a heat signature in thick cover to the west. The witness ran toward it but it bolted from a culvert under a large tree. He could not catch it with a flashlight or see it directly.

Neighbors a few miles away reported their dog acting terrified before an unseen large visitor crashed through the woods with heavy footsteps.

While driving and testing a night vision camera, the witness and a companion spotted a hovering ball of soft light above the ground by a river and recorded it. Driving toward it found nothing, but it reappeared closer on a ridgeline and appeared to keep pace as they drove about a mile before disappearing, leaving them far in a remote area.

While moving around a rural property at night with others, the witness saw a bobbing light approaching a barn like a headlamp runner, but no person or sound. Believing it was a neighbor, he called out while armed. The light faded out. Searching the area revealed dense sticker bushes, a valley and hill that should have made noisy movement.

After partying at a private lake, the guest drove out late and struck a two-foot hairy juvenile that ran into his car's headlight. He heard a thump, slowed, then heard a loud roar from the woods and fled. While circling back behind the lake he heard growling and movement following through the woods and sped away.
