The witness got lost after dark on a misty rainy night in February while hunting in the bottoms and tried to follow a creek out. He shined a light and sensed bodies on both sides of the creek bed, followed by sudden commotion of leaves, heavy movement and breathy grunting. The sounds moved behind him about thirty feet and then stopped abruptly without fading into the distance, which he later interpreted as the same group of creatures.
Two men report powerful vocalizations behind neighborhood
Two people talking in a residential driveway at night heard an extremely loud, deep howl/growl/moan echo across the valley three times over about one to two minutes. Dogs in the area barked and the witness's dog then shivered and stared toward the hill behind the house before retreating to its doghouse. The witnesses felt frightened and said the sound was unlike known local wildlife. No source was seen and no further sounds were heard that night.
Man Hears Evening Vocals in Prior Sighting Area
Late at night the witness heard loud, complex bark- and growl-like vocalizations coming from a ravine near the house. The sounds were described as louder and more structured than dogs, coyotes, or other familiar animals, and local dogs began barking during the episode. An attempted audio recording failed, and the sounds eventually stopped. The next day the witness found trampled vegetation, a coyote carcass, tarp pieces, a dog dish, and scat near the estimated sound source.
Family hears vocalizations and finds footprints near Park Falls
Late at night the witness was on the deck and repeatedly heard a loud growling-screaming sound moving from a field across the road to a field behind the house, but saw nothing in the moonlight. The next evening the witness and a companion searched with a spotlight and reported finding large bipedal footprints with a long stride. The tracks were photographed the following day after warm weather had largely melted them, and the photos were later judged too indistinct to include.
Possible vocalizations heard by several people around lake over a year's time. Footprints also found in snow.
The witness was outside a remote cottage watching a total lunar eclipse late at night when two extremely loud scream-like howls were heard at very close range. The sound was described as starting as a wolf-like howl and shifting to an immense roar, with apparent rapid movement from about 100 yards away to about 25 yards within seconds. No animal was seen, and the volume suggested a large animal to the witness.

The witness was tent-camping with extended family in a lakeside marshy forest area. Late at night she and her daughter heard heavy footsteps and a quiet grunt or growl near their tent, initially mistaking it for her husband. Much later she and two other adult women in separate tents were awakened by a single loud whoop-like cry, while her daughter heard a mechanical sound but not the cry.

The witness was bow hunting and walking a fire trail near dark when he found a large human-shaped footprint and photographed it and the surrounding woods. While photographing he noticed a strong layered odor of sour sweat, decaying flesh and musk. After walking back to his truck after dark, something growled at close range for 1-2 seconds, but a flashlight search revealed nothing and he left to develop the film.
Two elk hunters & tall bipedal creature startle each other at Chalk Creek east of Coalville
While hunting elk at dusk, the witness and a companion climbed out of a draw and surprised a tall black hair-covered creature about 30 feet away. The creature made a loud whoof sound as it moved into a small stand of pines, displacing a bough. After the pair backed away, it gave a low guttural growl ending with teeth clicking, frightening them enough to leave.
Campers hear several types of early morning vocalizations near Diamond Lake
Two relatives camped alone at a riverside campground, one in a tent and one in a van. During the night they heard loud calling sounds from across the river and later heard movement around the campsite, including grunt-like sounds beside the van. In the morning they compared notes, confirmed no other campers were present, and found no tracks due to hard ground.
Family and friends hear a late night vocalization from their home near Lake Sutherland
The witness reports a very loud simultaneous whistle, scream and growl coming from about 70 feet across the road from the cabin. The sound was heard by the witness and five other people and was described as unlike any known animal. An investigator later interviewed the witness and companions about the vocalization and noted inconclusive evidence in the area.

While camping alone during an archery hunt, the witness was awake in the tent around 4 a.m. listening for elk. A low growl was heard from very close, followed by a loud scraping sound and a thud/stomp from trees 2-3 feet from the tent. The witness made noise and went outside yelling with an axe but heard nothing further and saw nothing.
While scouting, hunter hears morning vocalization west of Scappoose
The witness was scouting and watching six deer off Dutch Canyon road in the early morning. The deer looked east toward a treeline about 1000 meters away, then a loud scream rising into a moaning growl came from those woods and the deer fled west. The witness watched the treeline with binoculars for almost two hours but had no visual sighting.
Woman experiences rock throwing, vocalization during walk
The witness was walking with a dog on a gravel road through woods when she heard repeated banging like something striking a tree. Two rocks were then thrown from the woods and narrowly missed her as she hurried away. Near a bend in the road she heard a loud low growl followed by a scream and fled running. She later learned a family member had been home the whole time and days later saw a large oddly shaped footprint near the roadside.

The witness was hunting hogs from a tree stand at sunrise when he watched a large hairy biped stalk hogs from tree to tree. The animal charged on all fours, killed a hog with blows, then carried it off while exchanging whooping calls with another unseen individual. It paused to stare at the witness before leaving. A hunting partner nearby heard the attack scream and whoops.
Possible repeat approaches to a rural residence at night outside OPP
The witness describes recurring strange noises around the family home shared with parents, including window banging, howls around dusk, growls, moans, grunts and rocks striking the house. The source was never seen, and indoor and outdoor dogs reportedly failed to react normally. A dank odor was also noted over several days. The activity is presented as ongoing, mainly at night and around dusk.
Predator caller has night time encounter in Sam Houston National Forest
The witness was using an electronic predator call at night when he heard an unidentified sound behind him. He shined a red-filtered light toward the sound and saw a dark animal he first took for a bear. The animal stood upright and moved away quickly on two legs while making a continuous deep, raspy growl that faded with distance.
Encounter by a squad on maneuvers while training at Fort Stewart
During military wargame training in the woods, a squad heard a low growl and high scream and saw a distant figure they first mistook for opposing forces. After they called out, the figure stood to about seven to eight feet, was judged not human, and threw rocks toward them before running to the treeline. The group reported hearing strange sounds from the woods for the rest of the night.
Sasquatch sighting (2004)
While laid up at about 11pm the witness heard a low growl that vibrated dual-pane windows and saw a young deer twitching near fir trees with a large neckless outline standing about 40 feet behind it. A car door sound stopped the episode, and next morning he found large partial tracks across a 12-foot creek with an injured left foot and later measured over 19 inches.
Howl near Bend, Oregon (2004)
The witness and several friends gathered for a nighttime bonfire at a secluded spot. After a distant howl earlier in the evening, an extremely loud combined growl-scream-roar erupted from very close behind trees. The group fled to a vehicle, waited, then extinguished the fire together and never returned.
Possible pre-dawn vocalization heard by hunter near Ferrum
The witness arrived in darkness to hunt deer from a tree stand on private land. While sorting gear in the stand, a very loud prolonged scream-howl ending in a growl occurred at close range, followed by movement in a nearby pine thicket and a brief foul odor. The witness stayed in the stand until first light, then left, and later visits had no further incident.
