The source paced the far bank, crossed the river, snapped a fallen log, approached within 10 feet while screaming and giving off a strong odor, then recrossed the river and left up the hill over about 25 minutes. Nothing was seen because it was pitch dark.

When he challenged the figure, it responded with a loud growl, and he ran to the campfire without hearing pursuit. He initially told others the pursuer was a bear but later concluded it had walked on two legs and was a bigfoot.
