He claimed hearing wood-like knocks and rocks moving through the trees, then seeing a large upright hair-covered figure watching him from across a hollow. Two companions paddled a small boat up a remote swampy creek in the late afternoon. A large rock was thrown from the wooded bank and splashed into the creek ahead of them, after which one of them fired warning shots and they turned back. As they paddled back after dark, they heard heavy footsteps in the woods that stopped when they stopped paddling and resumed when they paddled, continuing until they reached the road.

Late at night while camping for deer season, a companion who walked over a hill to a creek reported seeing a tall figure drinking that then stood and watched him, prompting him to run back to camp. The group then packed up and left the woods.

Five teenagers camped overnight under a cliff overhang in the national forest. Around midnight they heard heavy bipedal footsteps approach and stop behind a large poplar tree below the camp. Two of them used flashlights to watch red eyeshine peeking from the tree, then the creature stepped fully into view for about ten seconds before retreating behind the tree and later leaving diagonally through the hollow making huffing sounds.

In April 1991 around 2 p.m., the witness was playing with a BB gun near a garden and ravine, jumped onto a rock, and encountered a roughly 5-foot tall hair-covered creature within about 13 feet. The creature ran away through the woods with loud branch-breaking sounds, and the witness fled to the house then returned with a relative. They found broken branches, slide marks, and a three-toed footprint, though the witness later noted the tracks might not be from the same animal.
