The witness left a cabin on foot to photograph the lake and fall colors. While walking back toward the cabin he heard loud, rhythmic wood-on-wood knocks coming from a wooded, hilly area. The knocks stopped when he stopped to look and resumed briefly when he walked again. He saw no source, noted no odor, and heard no other vocalizations.
Close encounter at night by a motorist near Mt.Carmel
The witness reported driving at night and coming within about 20 feet of a very tall upright figure standing in the roadway. The figure reportedly shielded its eyes from the headlights, made eye contact and snarled to show large teeth, then left into a thicket after about a minute. The witness also reported a musk-like odor and missing fingers on one of the figure's hands.

The witness shot a deer at dusk and dragged it toward his truck after dark. On the trail he saw a widely spaced pair of large eyes at about his own height that stayed after he fired a handgun into the ground, then left to the side through dense brush with loud crashing. He smelled a foul musky odor and found pushed-over vegetation where it left, felt watched while field-dressing the deer, and later found part of the carcass dragged about 300 yards.

A bicyclist riding home late at night heard a noise by a dumpster behind a shed and saw a short stocky dark bipedal figure. The figure turned and walked into thin woods toward a cornfield, and the rider fled home to tell a companion. The companion checked the site minutes later but found only a trapped raccoon in the dumpster.

In October 2009 the witness was cutting timber on a neighbor's farm when he noticed a black hairy upright figure about 200 yards away by a cedar grove. The witness and a female companion were hiking in a wooded area in the morning when they heard very loud rustling like a small tree being shaken, followed by a long low howl, growls, grunts, snorts and squeals. The same sequence repeated a couple minutes later. They did not see what made the sounds and left within minutes.

The witness was doing senior photos at a lake with two companions when rocks were repeatedly thrown into the water from across the lake, accompanied by tree knocks and limb breaking. The group took burst photos toward the sounds and then left the area. At home the witness found what he believed to be a black orangutan-faced figure holding a white object in two of the photos, plus a possible smaller shape in a tree.

After dark he heard a very loud, deep, gravelly growl/yell from an estimated 150-200 yards away, then heard it again closer while walking out. The witness was running late for church on a cold, windy January evening and ran to her car. As she backed out of the driveway past the side yard, she saw a tall black hair-covered figure standing motionless between the garage and house near the west tree line. The son ran ahead, collapsed and became unresponsive while the witness felt nausea, loss of focus, and a deep vibrational sound. The witness was hiking alone and sitting on a bluff when he heard heavy thudding sounds like footsteps, followed by rock-clacking sounds from brush about 40-50 yards away. He exchanged rock bangs with the unseen source for about 10-15 minutes, with it mimicking the number of bangs he made. He became frightened as it got dark and returned to camp without seeing the source.

The witness and a companion were sitting outside the companion's house at night when they heard a scream from a nearby swamp. Shortly after they heard a large animal breaking branches in woods on their side of the road. After owls called behind the house, an unseen object coming from the woods landed in the yard behind them.

The witness was driving home from fishing with two companions around 12:50 a.m. when they spotted a large hair-covered figure with its head in a roadside trash can. They pulled close and watched it run on all fours then stand and walk on two legs in their headlights before it escaped behind a building toward a creek. A footprint was left behind and later photographed.

The witness was hunting elk with a muzzleloader several miles north of a ski area as snow began to fall. From a small canyon he heard chimp-like huffing and chattering that seemed to come from three individuals on both sides of the ravine. He tried to see the sources as the sounds kept moving ahead with him but saw nothing, then returned to camp as the storm worsened and daylight faded.

The witness and a companion were sleeping in their vehicle at a forest campsite. During the night they heard something rubbing against the vehicle, knocking items over, and rummaging around camp, including toppling chairs and a canopy. The companion, while lying down, reported seeing a tall black shape pass the window and leave away from roads. In the morning the chairs were overturned and the canopy was found upside down about 20 feet away, with otherwise little disturbance and no clear prints.

On Labor Day weekend 2010 at a family farm, the witness and companions shone a high-powered spotlight on a creature standing chest-deep in a pond about 30-40 yards away. They watched it move, pick objects from the water and chew on them until the light died. Immediately after, they heard a splash, movement through woods, and repeated series of booms followed by loud bellowing that seemed to answer from another part of the property.
