The witness was making dinner in the kitchen and looking out the back window toward the woods when he noticed a large black figure crouched behind a tree. He saw a long hairy arm and a foot protruding from behind the tree and judged it too large to be a man. He ran to alert his father, but the figure was gone by the time his father reached the window. A later search found no tracks or impressions.

It then splashed into the cold lake and continued across while a distant caller answered, leaving the witness frozen with fear.

He reported watching three pairs of eye reflections at different heights from near the house for about an hour. The wife woke in the early morning hearing seven low-volume knocks like wood striking a tree from the woods east of the house. She woke her husband, who heard nothing himself. Late at night the witness was driving home near a wildlife area when headlights revealed a large bipedal figure beside the treeline about 15-20 feet from the road. The figure appeared to be walking away into the trees showing its back, and when the witness stopped the headlights had moved past it so nothing could be seen. The witness then left the area alone.

The witness, waiting alone in the open, saw a distant figure walking with large steps along their earlier path and then standing behind a tree watching and moving its head side to side. After the relative rejoined and looked toward it, both ran to the trail and got a ride out from a passing couple.

The witness was deer hunting from a stand in a state park in Shelby County, Illinois, when they reported seeing a tall dark figure about 60-70 yards away in the late afternoon. The figure was described as about 8 feet tall with blackish coloring, broad shoulders, long arms and a crowned-shaped head, walking away with its face not visible. The witness took cell-phone photos that lacked detail and later noticed twisted and broken-off trees in the area.

A few minutes later two loud knocks and a drawn-out yip, also described as including a whoop, were heard from behind, after which the witness hurried back to the truck.

The witness, working as a snowplow driver at night, reported seeing a large shaggy figure standing on a train trestle over the highway in the headlights. The figure reportedly paused and turned to look at the plow, then was gone when the driver returned about ten minutes later.

The witness was climbing down from a deer stand in a marshy area in the evening when an extremely frightening howl came from directly behind him. He states the sound was unlike familiar night animals and made him feel unwelcome. He then stopped hunting that marsh for the remainder of the year.
