The witness estimated the screams came from within a few hundred yards, with no nearby houses.

In November 1969, the witness and his father were hunting in the morning when the father spotted what he first thought was a bear across a hay field. Both then observed a large brown-haired biped standing at the far fence line for an extended period through a rifle scope and field glasses. The father said he did not know what it was and chose not to shoot, and they returned to camp where he armed himself and kept the witness inside.

Late on a Friday night in October 1969, the witness and a driver were sitting talking in a parked car near woods and a brook. The witness noticed two red eyes in the road ahead, and when headlights were turned on they saw a hairy bipedal figure that stood up and slowly waddled into the woods. On a sandy bar beside a pool they found very large, deep tracks crossing in a straight line with a long stride. The relative and the witness approached on foot with a makeshift light, at which point the figure stood tall on two legs and ran into nearby woods, disappearing within a few steps.

In July 1969 the witness and two younger brothers were on bikes on a bridge over a creek when they watched a 4-foot dark brown young animal play in a tree about 300 feet away for five minutes. The witness felt overwhelming terror without seeing a threat and led the brothers away. While they rode about a half mile home, a brother reported a strange hairy man chasing them, which the witness interpreted as an adult protecting its young.

On March 9, 1969, a group visiting a vacation property on Bear Creek found very large footprint-like depressions in deep snow. The tracks appeared to come from the campsite area and angle off toward the creek into trees, with a stride a tall adult could not match. The group left without further investigation, and the witness later notified the county sheriff, whose follow-up found additional tracks and produced casts.
