Backpacker meets an 8-foot hairy biped standing behind tent

The witness was camped alone in a remote meadow with pack goats and dogs while tending a sick animal. At dusk the animals became alarmed and the witness exited a tent to see a tall erect chestnut-furred figure about 12 feet away staring directly. After a mutual stare the figure made a low rumble, a second figure was glimpsed behind it, and both left quickly with ground vibrations felt. The witness remained overnight without further incident and left the next morning.

On a warm summer evening at dusk in 2000, the witness was with two dogs at the edge of a forested ravine on the property. For about 10-15 minutes the witness heard something large moving through dense brush, branches snapping, and continuous loud roars and screams that continued despite yelling. The dogs stayed beside the witness and would not investigate, and the witness then went inside for the night.

Two people parked in a truck bed in a clearing at night to look at the stars and ridge. About 40 yards away a tall, dark-haired upright figure paced back and forth facing them for about two minutes. Frightened, they jumped into the truck cab and drove away while it stood watching.

The witness was camping with family at Sugar Pine Campground when whooping and long wailing sounds were heard coming from the forest behind the camp. Frightened, the witness ran into the family trailer. Years later the witness heard similar recorded sounds online and concluded the sounds had been those of a sasquatch.

During a family reunion campout, four relatives walked to nearby creek pools at night to look for frogs. They smelled a strong fecal odor and heard rustling and two heavy thuds approaching from dense woods, then fled back to camp. After calming down, some returned armed but found no source, noticed the odor was gone and the dogs had not reacted, and one noted a den-like resting spot across the marshy creek.

Around midday the witness was walking on a forest road north of a campground when they noticed a distant figure about 300 yards away moving the same direction. The figure appeared uniformly dark from head to toe with no visible skin. It suddenly left the road into brush where no trail existed and did not reappear.

After a period of complete quiet they heard a distant, high-pitched wailing sound lasting about 20 seconds that rose and fell rapidly. The witness did not know what made the sound but said it resembled remembered Bigfoot recordings, and no other family members were awake.

The witness was hiking down into high lake country in the Mount Washington Wilderness when he smelled a strong dead-like odor on the wind. He looked upwind and saw an eight-foot upright long-haired creature standing about 20 feet away at the forest edge watching him. After less than five seconds the creature turned and bolted over a small hill into the forest, and the frightened witness left the area toward his truck.

The creature glanced toward the light once, kept walking past without approaching, and disappeared into nearby woods, after which the witness packed up and drove away.

A group was camped in a forested valley and spent the afternoon and night sitting and talking. They heard knocks from a nearby ridge followed by small rocks thrown toward camp, some hitting a tent. A deer came within about ten feet of the group in the evening and remained nearby all night, at times appearing alert toward the woods. The group did not report seeing a creature.

The witness arrived home late at night and got out of the parked vehicle. Immediately after the car door closed, an extremely loud scream was heard from near the uphill tree line about 100 feet away. The witness ran inside, retrieved a shotgun and floodlight, and watched from inside the screen door but saw nothing and found no sign.

The witness and two companions hiked to Salt Creek Falls and sat on large rocks while the water was low. During the outing they noticed a foul odor and a sound of trees or brush moving. On the way out they found a very large footprint with distinct toe prints in the sandy creek bank.

Day hiker sees large, hairy animal which seems to follow him

The witness pulled off a highway west of Cody in late afternoon to hike north through timber and rocky outcrops. Over about an hour the witness heard rocks rolling, brush breaking and movement that seemed to follow and stop with them. While returning toward the road the witness turned to see an upright, brown, long-haired animal about 60-70 yards away that immediately leapt into dense timber. The witness was uncertain whether the sounds and sighting involved the same animal and noted a bear as a possible alternative, only later considering Bigfoot after finding a website.
