The witness was deer hunting from a stand in the morning and observed an ape-like figure 150 to 300 yards away through a riflescope. The figure was outside a brush line where apples had been placed for deer and was watched for about two minutes. They heard what sounded as 20-25 footsteps moving through brush below from left to right and noticed a strong foul goat-like smell. Shortly after they heard loud splashing in the lake while ducks reacted frantically and fled toward the middle.

In December 2001 four hunters were leaving the woods along a logging road after dark when something in the adjacent swamp repeatedly screamed and charged toward them while breaking branches. The group was armed but could not see the source, felt the ground shake, and described the screams as extremely loud and frightening. After several bluff charges, the source moved deeper into the swamp and the hunters left the area.

On New Year's Eve evening the witness and a companion were playing near a wooded area behind a relative's house during a fireworks gathering. They saw a very large furry figure with red eyes standing partly behind a tree watching them, then saw it walking away on two legs with an ape-like limping gait. Both ran back to tell their parents, then returned minutes later with a flashlight but the figure was gone.

Around 3 a.m. in December the witness was driving home along Clyattville Road in Brooks County when she noticed a very tall bipedal figure standing by a bridge and apparently reaching toward tree branches. Frightened, she did not stop and drove quickly past.

The sound seemed to come from across the river despite closed windows, and was louder than human campground noise the witness had previously heard. The witness, experienced with local wildlife sounds, said it matched nothing previously heard.

The witness was elk hunting with a relative in a clear-cut area. While walking on a bank after watching deer, the witness found a single large footprint estimated at 18 to 19 inches long heading uphill. The track was described as about a week old and was the only one seen. The witness accidentally stepped in it before showing it to the relative.

Four teenagers left a church after an evening rehearsal to go for a walk along a road lined with pines. One who hid behind the trees encountered a tall hairy figure at very close range pulling back a branch, then fled screaming. Another teen then watched the tall muscular figure emerge from the trees, cross the road, and walk up a hillside while turning its upper body to glance back.

The next day after snowfall, the witness returned and found a fresh cow elk carcass with its chest torn open and large indistinct tracks with a long stride nearby.

The witness was driving west on a snowy highway at night when headlights revealed two upright, furry figures walking in the middle of the river. The witness pulled over and watched them from about 30 feet away, noting human-like shape with long arms, elbows and knees, and a face-to-face look with the nearer one. After passing them and getting out to look upriver, the witness waited several minutes but the figures did not reappear around the bend, then drove home.

During a walk around the lake, the witness found tracks coming out of the shallow water and going into the forest. Both workers examined the prints, measured them with a tape, recorded details in notebooks, then left to finish work without telling supervisors.

The witness drove to a Blue Ridge Parkway overlook on Halloween night to clear his head and walked down a trail to a bench. After noticing unnatural silence and hearing branch snaps circling him, he returned to his car. While sitting in the car he heard repeated impacts like cones hitting the vehicle and saw tall black hooded figures in the treeline and prone shapes on the grass that appeared closer each time he looked away, with faint flickering lights near their faces. He spoke to them, then drove away, later finding no damage and noticing maps show the turnout on the opposite side of the road from his memory.
