Childhood incidents in Manitoba
As a child at her family's Manitoba farm, the witness was picking Saskatoon berries with her mother when she noticed a large reddish-brown hair-covered creature standing very close and picking and eating berries by hand. After she got her mother's attention, her mother screamed and pulled her back to the farmhouse, and the witness did not see the creature leave. The encounter happened on a bright sunny afternoon at less than 15 feet distance.

While hunting moose alone on the west side of a lake, the witness mistook a tall hair-covered biped seen from behind for the rump of a wounded moose and shot it between the shoulder blades, killing it instantly. The witness then walked around the body, noting its very large size, dark brown long hair, bare palms with opposed thumbs, and flat five-toed feet estimated around fifteen inches, before leaving quickly out of fear and concern about hunting without a license. The account was kept private for about thirty years until the witness recognized similar creatures in published film and began speaking about it.

The witness hid behind a transformer and watched the still figure sway slightly for a few minutes before slipping away unseen. A check the next morning found no clear tracks.
