A group of four on dirt bikes and quads stopped at night to fix a broken chain. They heard repeated loud moans, then a series of knocks like on a tree, then something running fast through dense woods around them. Frightened, they abandoned one bike and fled, finding the bike moved off the trail when they returned the next day.
Possible vocalizations heard near Fredericksburg
The witness was visiting family property after a death in the family and walked to a truck late at night while relatives waited inside. She heard a distant howl she said did not match coyote, dog, or wolf sounds she knows. Relatives in the truck did not hear it because of coughing, and her sister later said she had heard similar sounds many times.
Possible encounter while backpacking in the Hoosier National Forest
Three people were camped overnight in a valley when they heard a deep growl followed by a howl. They then heard large branches or trees snapping and being thrown toward camp, followed by sounds of a small animal in distress and then silence. Finally they heard something large running away through the woods, breaking branches and rustling leaves. They saw nothing in the darkness and could not identify the source.

The witness and his wife were house-sitting a wooded property and went for a late-morning trail run to a clearing overlooking farmland. They came out of thick woods and saw a large fur-covered upright creature about 50 yards away, crouched and staring east. After his wife spoke, it turned its head toward them, and they both immediately fled back to the house.

Three family members were night-fishing from a riverbank lit by a lantern when large objects began splashing into the water upstream, landing progressively closer over about 12 to 15 minutes. They never saw the objects or the thrower and heard no movement despite listening and sweeping with a search light. They had earlier heard distant high-pitched screams, and after a final close splash threw spray onto the bank they left on ATVs. The account was submitted by a coworker of one witness, not by a witness directly.

The witness was stopped at a rural intersection in daylight when she saw two tall, black, hair-covered bipeds cross the road ahead of her toward woods. They moved quickly in a stooped posture while swinging long arms and covered the road in several steps. She described them as solid black from head to toe with no clothing divisions and somewhat taller than six feet.

Three youths arriving home late at night saw a person-like form rise from where it had appeared as a stump near the water about 150 feet away. The figure walked quickly east along the shore, then turned and moved quickly back across the yard toward marshy woods by the trailer while making heavy running sounds. The youths rushed inside the residence and locked the door, remaining upset through the night.

The witness took his dog to a remote forest campground late in the year and built a campfire. Something crashed loudly down the hill and stopped behind a tree near the campsite while the dog reacted. The witness armed himself, retrieved his gear, and later saw a large hairy forearm and hand with thick black fingers by the tree.

The witness and a companion were fishing from a boat at night on a reservoir. A very heavy object was thrown from the shore and splashed down near the boat, rocking it. The witness illuminated the shoreline with a spotlight for several minutes but saw no person or animal. They then left the area quickly by boat.

A man walking in the woods to shoot his rifle reported smelling rot and then seeing a huge hunkered animal staring at him. After a few seconds of mutual staring, the man walked away and the animal bolted past him on two legs, breaking branches as it ran. The account was relayed secondhand by a friend who said the witness was frightened and stayed out of the woods for months.

The witness and two companions were walking through woods along a stream after midnight when all three noticed a strong urine odor. The witness and one companion then saw a very tall dark figure with large eyes that appeared to walk on two legs. After the witness threw a rock, the figure walked away but followed the group at a distance as they hurried back to their truck, throwing rocks as they went.

Late at night, the witness slipped outside to knock on her brother's window as a prank. As she raised her fist near the window, a deep, body-vibrating growl/roar came from very close above her. Possible nighttime encounter at a home outside Turkey Run State Park
The witness and their partner were sitting by a fire in their yard at night when cattle behind the house began bawling and running. The partner called the witness to the side of the garage where a tall shape stood motionless in the moonlight. The partner threw a steel pipe at the shape, which did not move, so they assumed it was a tree and went inside. The next morning they found no tree at that spot, but flattened grass and two trails leading through the pasture, and recovered the thrown pipe.

While bow-hunting deer from a tree stand at approaching dark, the witness saw a dark figure run quickly through brush and across openings, covering in seconds ground that had taken minutes to walk. The figure was described as taller than the witness and black all over with a hump on its back. Afterward the witness left quickly and learned a hunting companion nearby had heard movement but seen nothing, and checkout staff said no other hunters were in the area.

After closing the car door, the witness saw a very large, dark furry biped crossing an adjacent field toward the woods with a long slouched stride and swinging arms. The figure covered a large distance quickly and entered the woods, after which the witness went inside and spent about half an hour trying to process the sighting.

Two adults accompanied by two small children hiked to a cave mouth at night and then started back toward camp. About a tenth of a mile from the cave they heard a low 5 to 6 second moan or howl from behind and to the right, followed by a more distant dog bark and shorter deep grunt-like noises. They lifted the children onto their shoulders and hurried back without hearing further sounds.

The witness was awakened at home by a loud screaming sound and went to the back door to look outside but saw nothing. The screaming continued until the witness turned on a light, then it stopped, and the witness went back to bed. Months later the witness heard a televised Bigfoot recording that sounded the same as the scream.
