A couple driving south on a dark highway late at night reported a tall lanky figure standing on the shoulder as they passed at highway speed. The driver saw the figure briefly while both occupants noticed a strong foul musky odor. They noted fresh roadkill nearby and continued to a gas station without turning back.

The witness was driving east on Highway 169 toward Virginia on a bright Sunday morning when she spotted a large silvery-gray furry creature on a hilltop clearing north of the westbound lanes. The creature walked west toward the woods with a swaggered gait, long strides, swinging long arms and a slightly forward-bent posture, showing a conical head with little or no neck. After a few seconds median trees blocked the view, and the witness continued without turning back. A car stopped on the opposite side appeared to be watching the same thing.

The witness and a companion were driving on a dirt road in daylight when they noticed a sweet but dead-like odor. Shortly after rounding a curve they watched a small dark short-haired quadruped cross from left to right into the woods. They stopped and looked but saw nothing further and could not identify the animal, later interpreting it as a possible baby Sasquatch.

On the morning of October 5 2009 the witness and a companion were driving toward a hunting area when two black upright figures about seven feet tall ran across the road and into dense brush. The witness drove closer and then got out to listen but heard nothing and the figures were gone. The party left the woods that night and returned days later with a relative to find odor, snapped small trees, a possible print, and scat.

The witness was working on a fence in the yard when three short whoop-like sounds were heard coming from the property to the north. The sounds were unfamiliar and were compared to a quieter howler monkey. The witness's horses also became active and vocal while looking toward the direction of the sounds.

The witness left camp to walk about a quarter mile to the restroom along a road between fields and woods near the river. While walking, the witness felt watched and heard something walking in the woods, described as too slow-stepping to be human. The footsteps stopped before the cleared and lit restroom area and did not follow on the return walk.

Possible footprints found near Mackinaw River

The witness was building a house near the Mackinaw River and searching the disturbed mud for arrowheads. Beginning in late September, they noticed bare footprints in the mud larger than their own size 13 foot, including during cold weather. The follow-up clarified a total of three prints estimated at about 14 inches long and 6 inches wide without actual measurement, with photos too unclear to publish. The witness doubted anyone would walk barefoot in cold mud at a construction site.

The witness was camping in brush with family members. About 4:30am on the first night he awoke to a strong skunk-like odor and a feeling of being watched. He rolled over and made out a very broad-shouldered silhouette with a head between trees about seven yards away. He turned away without telling family and waited for daylight, and the group left early after two nights.

They described three deep prints with visible toes that were larger than a boot and spaced wider than a human step, appearing to go into the field and then back into the woods. An investigator later recorded measurements of fifteen inches long by six inches wide.

The witness camped overnight at a lake with five companions. Around 3-4 a.m. the witness heard a loud, clear bell-like call lasting about four seconds and trailing to a gurgle, estimated to come from across the lake. No one else in camp reported hearing it, and it was first puzzling as a nighttime bird call. After later reading a published description of a bigfoot call trailing to a gurgle, the witness concluded the sound had been bigfoot.

The witness and a companion walked in on a gated logging road for an evening elk hunt and heard something pacing them in the woods. After they stopped at the end of a side road, the witness heard a deep low growl from nearby brush without seeing the source. After waiting until dark for two companions, the pair walked out back-to-back while loud walking and brush sounds paced them for about a half mile to the truck.

The witness was driving home alone at night on a narrow wooded road when eyeshine caused her to slow near a curve. Her headlights revealed a brown-haired bipedal creature standing off the road about ten feet away. The creature watched her pass, making eye contact and showing pointed teeth, then turned its head to follow until she left the area. She felt intense fear only after passing.

At about 2:30 a.m. he was awakened by three consecutive whooping yells followed by a loud three-second guttural scream from up the valley. He then heard very faint distant answering calls or howling. He stayed awake for a couple more hours and heard nothing further.

The witness was outside in the driveway on a cell phone call around midnight when they noticed two dark figures moving across a moonlit field. The larger figure, estimated at 7-8 feet tall, watched the witness while walking with an apelike gait and swinging arms, accompanied by a smaller 4-5 foot figure that appeared to forage. After crouching in tall grass, both figures moved toward trees and darkness to the southwest, and a rock or object struck a nearby shed as the witness went inside.

Hunters hear vocalization near camp in Selway/Bitterroot Wilderness

The witness got up before dawn while on an elk-hunting trip and stepped outside the tent while a relative remained inside. From the dark the witness heard a strange vocal sound that began like a howl, shifted to bugle-like notes, then to hoot-like notes. After the sound ended a bugle call was made to elicit a response but none came, and a later search at first light found no tracks. The witness noted the sound was unfamiliar and suggested it could have been an unknown bird.

Later that night while reading in their small trailer, something slapped the door. Both stayed inside with firearms, feeling frightened despite being comfortable in the mountains.

Around a bend in the trail the relative saw two large bright eyes in the trail at about eight feet high, with no body outline visible. The relative froze briefly and then ran back to a truck and drove home, reporting extreme fear.
