Two teenagers camped on a mountain logging road were harassed by thrown sticks, loud grunting and tree-banging sounds, and a strong foul odor. When they shone a light into the woods about 25 yards away, they saw a very tall fur-covered figure that ducked behind a tree. They put out their fire and fled down the trail, saying the figure followed them most of the way back.

The most intense moment was a predawn episode with a deep guttural roar followed by a scream-like sound near camp. They left early after smelling the odor again near a plum thicket.

Over following months they heard screams and knocks, found a large footprint with ridges, a distressed horse, and disturbed hay resembling a nest in the barn loft. The witness and relatives were sleeping in lean-tos at a family hunting camp when the witness was awakened by shouting and gunfire. A relative said a tall, hairy figure had loomed over the shelter and then fled into the woods with loud crashing sounds. Three children walking on a wooded footpath noticed a tall female-like figure with a smaller juvenile standing by a tree off to the side. The larger figure stared at them, gave off a dead-animal smell, stepped toward them, growled and bared its teeth after being pointed out. The group fled toward a residence while hearing branches breaking, prolonged howling and screaming, and trees being beaten.

The witness and companions were parked late at night at a cul-de-sac off Fitzsimmons Road. They heard successive sets of loud wood-on-wood knocks that sounded progressively closer, from a few hundred yards away to within tens of yards. Frightened as the sounds approached without any visible source or movement noise, they fled in their truck without seeing what made the sounds.

While heading back to their truck at dusk during an elk hunt, the witness and a companion felt watched and heard a loud scream lasting several minutes from behind trees, along with banging and branch breaking. They hid behind boulders with rifles but nothing emerged. They then left for the truck about a half mile away.

On a moonlit night in late October 1975, the witness was coon hunting along a ridge when both dogs became frightened and stayed by him. He heard a low moaning sound, a rock-throw-like crash into a brush pile, two tree-strike-like impacts, and something moving through leaves down a steep wooded slope. He called out but saw nothing and ended the hunt.

They stood to look and then watched a very large upright monkey-like animal climb a pine, jump to another tree, pause briefly, and jump down from an estimated 20 feet.

The witness and his wife returned in late January to a rock grotto where he had earlier found a possible bedding area. They found the bed intact but an old wagon moved from a ledge with drag marks in the rock. As they hiked out through a ravine, unseen actors on both ridges followed them for about an hour with knocks, whistles and other vocalizations, shaking and snapping saplings and throwing rocks until the pair reached the woods edge. Neither reported seeing anything.

A group hiked to remote mountain lakes and fished. The witness heard branches breaking and a very loud wood-on-wood knock, then smelled a strong foul stench. Pine cones landed sideways next to the witness and large tracks were seen in smashed grass, with a sense of being watched and shadowed until leaving the plateau. No creature was seen.

Two companions sitting on a pipeline corridor heard alternating bird-like calls and wood-knock sounds for about 20 minutes that grew louder and seemed to come from very close by. When they stood to look, they saw a tall grey-haired animal about 20-30 yards away staring at them. Both the witnesses and the animal immediately fled, with the animal crashing in a straight line uphill through the woods.

The witness was camping overnight with a large scout group near a lake when a large pot of food disappeared from camp. Throughout the night the group heard bushes thrashing, repeated tree knocks, and loud long whistles coming from different sides of the camp. Counselors kept everyone by the fire until daylight, when another scout group helped them leave and police were called but reportedly found nothing.
