The witness and companions drove to a forest road at night and stopped in the vehicle to look around. They reported hearing howls, a whoop and slow knocks, then seeing at least eight pairs of eye shine positioned around the vehicle. The driver then left the area, and the group planned to return with recording equipment.

The witness was camping with his wife and sister-in-law when he was awakened around 3:14 a.m. to accompany his wife to the restroom. His sister-in-law later confirmed she also heard the knocking sounds.

He ran back to the cabin and stayed inside for the night.

In the early afternoon the witness and companions were walking down an old logging road when they heard strange whistling, gurgling pig-like sounds and trees shaking nearby. The witness approached to about 30 feet and saw the back of a light beige, clean-haired figure with darker face and hands holding trees, which then struck trees, turned away, and ran off on all fours while whistling continued from across the road. Companions farther away heard the whistles, thuds and thrashing but did not see the figure.

About a week before the report, the witness was awakened at about 3:30 a.m. by repeated loud banging likened to woodblocks slamming that lasted about 10 minutes. The sounds came from dense state-owned woods behind the home, later estimated at about 70 yards to the southeast.

A couple camping alone in a state forestry heard large movements around camp all evening. Around 2 a.m. the husband saw a tall hair-covered biped beside their SUV and illuminated it before it ran past him over a gate into the woods. Later both heard knocks and rocks striking their tent for about an hour until a large rock tore the tent roof. Next morning they found partial prints and fresh bark damage before leaving.

Late at night while fishing at the Kanopolis Lake spillway, the reporter noticed movement on a hill and then a large figure peeking from behind a tree about 150-200 yards away. The reporter and an adult companion watched it peek in and out for about 45 minutes, seeing red eye-shine with and without a flashlight. Near the end, the companion heard a single knock and a 3-4 second high-pitched scream from the figure's area, which the reporter could not hear over the flowing water.

During the night he heard unknown noises, a cough/grunt sound, whistles, rocks thrown toward him, and a very loud crash near his hammock. The witness was fishing alone along a river when a rock splashed nearby. The witness then saw a large apelike animal leaning over the bank to look at them, heard loud knocks and a sudden silence, and later watched it cross a fence and run uphill out of sight across a field. Shortly afterward three relatives said they had heard a growl and heavy footsteps leaving nearby woods.

The figure walked across a trail, paused by a fir tree and looked toward the group, then continued into an adjacent field. The group went to the spot, found flattened brush and a bent-grass trail, estimated the figure's height against the tree, took photos, and then heard knocking beats and hooting sounds after birds flushed and dogs barked in the distance.

Just before 5 p.m., the witness heard sets of loud wood-on-wood knocks from the woods in three different directions around the overlook. The witness stated the sounds were unfamiliar and unlike typical forest noises heard during many years visiting the park.
