Two people walking across a frozen lake found a trackway of very large five-toed footprints and followed it for several hundred yards toward the opposite shore. The prints were described as 14-16 inches long with a bridge-like ridge and spaced 5-7 feet apart. While in the area they also heard intermittent small thudding sounds in short bursts.

They heard a repeated rock-clacking sound from the forest at regular intervals for about ten minutes. Their two dogs became frightened and there was no reply when they called out. They put out the fire and left quickly, after which the sounds stopped, without ever seeing the source.

At daybreak they found indistinct ground marks and large smudged marks high on the trailer's rear corners, concluded an unknown animal had grabbed and rocked the trailer, and left the area.
