From boulders he glassed about eight hairy bipeds with young, watching them for about half an hour as some appeared to hide at a choke point while others circled. Three hunters camped in a river bottom over the opening weekend of bow season. Over several days and nights they reported heavy impacts, rustling, a skunk-like odor, red eyeshine, wood knocks, whistles, talk-like mumbling, a whoop-ending vocalization, and bent trees and branch structures. The most intense moment was a predawn episode with a deep guttural roar followed by a scream-like sound near camp. They left early after smelling the odor again near a plum thicket.

During a 1983 backpacking trip in wooded hills in Arkansas, the witness and friends found three oval rock-and-leaf structures described as nests, with bark-stripped branches beside two of them, plus a very large scat pile and a pine tree with bark stripped in long strips. They remained in the area two more days hearing unidentified spooky noises but reported seeing no animal.

Over following months they heard screams and knocks, found a large footprint with ridges, a distressed horse, and disturbed hay resembling a nest in the barn loft. No creature was reportedly seen clearly, and the interpretation as possible Sasquatch activity developed over later years.

In late July 1974 the witness walked with his parents and dog south along a trail toward thick woods. As they walked they heard loud cracks, pops and snaps from the treeline that seemed to parallel their movement, smelled rotten garbage, and the dog became fearful. Near the site of a previously found stick shelter they heard a tree snap and crash nearby, then turned back while snapping sounds seemed to follow them to the clearing.

A local friend who swam in the turnaround where alligators would not go searched underwater and found an opening. He swam about 100 feet into a cavern, surfaced under the area used for bikes and horses, and encountered an overpowering stench that burned his eyes and made breathing hard. He believed he had found the creature's lair and asked the witness to keep it secret.

He left to find a ranger station and returned with a ranger who photographed the site, after which both described themselves as becoming believers.

As a young teenager bringing cows across a canal near dark, the diarist saw a large bear-like figure standing on hind feet by a sapling 600-700 feet away and felt intense chill. Cows were undisturbed and his father was unconcerned. Next morning with his friend [name withheld] he found a huge bare footprint in wet mud under the sapling, estimated 8.5-9 feet tall using [name withheld]'s height, and nearby found a stick-bed with a strong repulsive odor.

Teamsters camping by a lake reported a ghost-like naked figure stealing scraps and plunging into the water when spoken to or shot at. In fall 1871 men saw it clearly as a large hairy man eating scraps. Investigators later found a cave with rags, bones, and a dead naked man.
