Campers Awaken to Unknown Vocalizations, Brush Popping and Foul Odor
About 2 a.m., dozens of campers were awakened by loud prolonged screams from the woods east of the campground. Six campers entered the woods with flashlights toward the sound about 200-300 ft from the perimeter, smelled a foul odor and heard loud brush movement and wood cracking, then retreated. The screams lasted 20-25 minutes total, fading to the east with a similar sound from the south, followed by coyotes howling.

He rowed in to check, found no tracks, broken brush, or animal, only two old swan carcasses nearby, and spent a quiet night.

The witness then saw a tall reddish hairy creature cross the road behind them in one step and run into the brush, then ran to the truck and left.

No full animal was clearly seen.

The witness photographed the area, heard and saw nothing further, found no other tracks, and later found possible scat in the direction the animal headed.

They heard repeated deep growls and saw the silhouette of a large man-like figure with a cone-shaped head and very wide shoulders walking silently up the road toward them. The accompanying dog began growling and barking, and the witness saw a very large figure cross the road in about two steps and disappear into the woods about 30 yards away. When the witness walked toward the spot with the dog and a flashlight, the dog refused to advance, a strong musky smell was noticed, and cracking sounds in the vegetation moved toward them, prompting the witness to return to the car and drive away.
