While camping on an island during a multi-day canoe trip, the witness and a companion heard a distant crying-like sound that grew louder and became high-pitched growling as something paced on the opposite shore after dark. They tracked the sounds with flashlights but never saw the source, though they thought trees were swaying. After a rifle shot was fired over the sounds, the vocalizations stopped and the source was heard running away through the forest.
Bluff charge by a sasquatch at sunrise on Manatee River, 30 miles south of Tampa
The witness returned early in the morning to a familiar fishing spot by a river. A large hair-covered creature stepped onto the trail, noticed the witness, and ran toward them. The witness climbed over a tall fence to escape and was confronted face-to-face across the fence before fleeing along the fence line as the creature chased from the other side until it was stopped by dense vegetation.

Three people exited a cave lead in the early morning and were gathering gear to hike to the car. A loud, powerful, unfamiliar call came from across the sink, described as starting like a deep growl and growing in volume and tone. The witness was riding a bicycle on a trail through woods near a grocery store when a large hairy creature stepped into the path, causing a fall. The creature stood over the witness at close range and produced a loud howl/growl with its mouth open before leaving into the woods at high speed while breaking branches. The witness then rode home quickly and hid inside.

The witness and girlfriend walked onto a moonlit golf course green late at night. A large tree began thrashing with loud grunts, yells and a lion-like scream. They ran downhill to the car as a tall hairy wide-shouldered creature dropped, pursued and flanked them, and they escaped by driving to town.

Four men hiked up a mountain at night intending to camp on the summit. While resting about two-thirds of the way up at about 2:20 a.m., they heard two long loud screams from the ridge above followed by a powerful growl. Terrified, they ran down the mountain to the highway and went home.

The witness and a companion drove to a picnic area in a forested area at dusk to relax after bowling. While outside the car the witness heard loud heavy strides coming up the hillside, followed by a low growl-like sound, prompting both to get in the car to leave. As they drove away something thumped against the car. Later under bright lights they found large handprints in the dust on the roof, side panel and door.
Possible Nightime Encounter In Wharton State Forest
When the witness was 14, he camped alone in a forested area and noticed something in the brush paralleling him as he returned to camp near dark. The presence circled the camp and later approached the tent, producing an extremely loud scream followed by growls and chatter, then retreated after the frightened witness yelled back. The witness stayed awake all night, left at first light, and never saw what made the sounds.

Two young family members went to the barn after dark to check animals and one touched fur in the dark and then saw a tall furry biped with red eyes. The creature followed as they left the barn without harming them. An older relative then confronted it with a shotgun, fired in the air, and it ran into the woods making a noise.

A witness living on a remote farm reported prolonged screaming and growling from the ridges around the house late at night. The sounds appeared to circle the house for over an hour and were accompanied by tree cracking and rock-clicking noises. The witness went onto the porch briefly then remained inside frightened, without seeing any creature.

The witness and his friend camped and fished over a weekend at a remote creek below a ridge road. They experienced pebbles and rocks thrown, pacing, huffing, wood knocks, a disturbed fire pit and scattered poles. A large creature then came down the ridge into the creek, growled at them from about 20 yards, and left. A DNR officer later found prints, cast them, and called them bear tracks.

Searches that night and the next morning revealed no source, tracks, or sign of trauma.

As a child staying at a relative's house near lakes and woods, the witness heard growling, snorting and footsteps outside a bedroom window late at night and stayed in bed frightened. The witness now interprets the incident as involving a bigfoot.

A teenager staying alone at a remote hunting cabin after companions left and did not return spent nights unsettled by a wet-animal odor and a feeling of being watched. While sleeping outside by a fire pit, the fire died low and a large unseen presence approached, producing deep growls, snot-blowing sounds, stomping that vibrated the ground, and a pair of very high, widely spaced, bright red glowing eyes. The witness remained still praying until morning, when the presence was gone, and later told companions who laughed.
Sounds heard like growling
As an eight-year-old, the witness became separated from friends while playing in the woods and walked alone down a trail. The witness smelled an indescribable odor and heard growling from thick bushes to the left, then heard a surrounding scream and ran out of the woods without looking back. Years later the witness felt the earlier growl matched a supposed Bigfoot vocalization heard in a TV documentary, but remained unsure what was encountered.

When headlights were turned on they saw a large dark hairy figure with a cone-shaped head and green eyes that moved its head and made grunting sounds. After difficulty starting the car, they heard a loud prolonged roar and saw the figure still there as they drove away.

A very large hair-covered biped ran from behind a house toward the woods, then rushed to the road edge, stared with glowing eyes and made a loud growling sound. The witness was fishing from a boat near shore while a companion napped on board. The witness heard footsteps in water, loud roars, splashing, and an animal squealing but saw nothing because shoreline vegetation was very dense. Frightened, the witness moved away quietly and woke the companion, who heard part of the sounds as they left. At the marina a worker said a news crew had previously covered a Bigfoot report at the lake, which led the witness to consider that explanation.
Two teenagers have sighting east of Seneca
In the summer of 1979 the witness and a companion had pulled off the road east of Seneca when they heard a loud shrieking growl. A large human-like animal approached their vehicle in bounding steps. The witness shouted for the companion to get in, locked the doors, and fled at high speed, remaining frightened and avoiding that road afterward.
