The witness and a companion drove to a picnic area in a forested area at dusk to relax after bowling. While outside the car the witness heard loud heavy strides coming up the hillside, followed by a low growl-like sound, prompting both to get in the car to leave. As they drove away something thumped against the car. Later under bright lights they found large handprints in the dust on the roof, side panel and door.

The witness and companions returned to the site later the same night but were turned away because the forest was closed after dark.
After hearing the friend's account, the witness began an independent investigation and formed theories about what is in the local woods.
The investigator spent weekends hiking creek beds in the forest and reports seeing unexplained things.
