Campers kept awake by menacing vocalizations all night long 57 miles north of Bangor
The witness and a companion camped in a tent near a pond and listened through most of the night to repeated whoops, howls, whistles, gibberish-like chatter and rumbling from multiple directions across the water and woods. Later something splashed and charged in the water near the tent, followed by loud snorts, breathing, and footsteps on a nearby dirt road, while movement was heard between the tent and fire. The witness searched outside with a light and firearm but saw nothing, and the sounds stopped after dawn.
Camper hears screams while camping in Kennebunk, Maine
The witness and a companion camped overnight in a tent in scrub pine after returning from a motorcycle rally. Late at night something approached the tent, producing a strong odor, audible movement, breathing and ground vibration, and a loud scream that continued intermittently before leaving. At daylight the witness found large indistinct impressions in grass and broken ferns leading toward a cliff but no clear tracks.
Hunters find scat and have large rock thrown at them
While hunting near a lake in the fall of 1970, the witness reported a strong musky odor, unusual large and small scat, rhythmic thumping with ground vibration, and a large dead tree falling nearby while alone. The next day the witness returned with a companion, encountered the thumping and shaking again, and a large rock flew over their heads, after which they left the area.
Tracks near Poland, Maine
After finding a huge footprint in snow, the witness and his friend returned armed the next day and followed branch markers placed high in trees. In a shallow ravine they heard gibberish chattering, then silence, then three trees fell and screams came from three directions while the ground shook. They fled down to a logging trail where a huge red creature screamed at the witness from about ten feet away before the pursuit stopped near an old train road and river.
