Around 3 a.m. he awoke feeling watched to dead silence, then heard loud ape-like screams from both ends of camp at intervals. He saw a very large hairy biped cross the camp about 20 to 30 feet away and felt its steps through the ground. He walked quickly out of the camp and ran to his parents' house once clear of the woods.

In April 1991 around 2 p.m., the witness was playing with a BB gun near a garden and ravine, jumped onto a rock, and encountered a roughly 5-foot tall hair-covered creature within about 13 feet. They found broken branches, slide marks, and a three-toed footprint, though the witness later noted the tracks might not be from the same animal.

The creature walked slightly stooped, with long hair waving as it moved, and then disappeared from view.

A large upright man-like form with broad shoulders stepped into the clearing, huffed loudly, then ran upright across the clearing with swinging arms and heavy steps felt in the ground. The platoon woke, packed rapidly, and moved away, and a daylight check found knocked-over trees and disturbed soil but no prints.

He fired a large amount of ammunition toward the sounds without seeing the source, then stayed inside overnight, and the next day found bullet damage to trees and a flattened depression but no blood or tracks.

The witness and two companions were fishing in a swampy wooded area from a small paddle boat when they heard loud walking in the woods. They looked toward the sound and saw an upright gray-haired entity about 70 to 80 feet away, with its lower body hidden by bushes. Late at night they heard clear bipedal footsteps approaching up a steep slope, followed by breaking limbs and circling around their camp outside the firelight for over half an hour. They also heard loud exhaled huffs that frightened them. They abandoned camp and returned the next day for their gear.

The figures remained mostly still, with only minor sounds, while the pair talked and then backed out with firearms ready without firing at the figures. The witness returned the next day to recover gear, found extensive large tracks, followed fresh tracks, and encountered one individual at close range.
