The grandmother gasped and all looked to see a large black hairy figure standing at the tree line about twenty feet behind the baby, staring. The grandmother brought the children inside, retrieved a firearm, and the figure was gone when she returned to the porch.

The guest's grandfather was sitting on his vehicle eating sardines when a grayish hairy figure appeared and stared for several minutes with only slight swaying. He set the food down, left, and found it gone the next day, then left food there about every two weeks and saw the figure a few times. On the last visit he saw a large black one with a younger one, the large one shaking trees and throwing things while the young one left, after which he stopped going there.

A flashlight search found wide chisel-like scratches on a sassafras tree starting above eight feet and running down to chest level.
