Late at night the witness stepped onto the porch for a smoke and heard an unfamiliar terrifying vocalization. Shining a light, the witness saw the silhouette of a tall bipedal figure near the pond that stood up and ran off, with vocalizations continuing fainter into the distance. A relative living in the house came outside and heard the final vocalization and a distant gunshot, and another relative later arrived to find the area empty.

Two identical-twin brothers hiking through ankle-deep water reached a clearing and found a creature lying on its back that flipped to all fours and sniffed them, appearing confused. It then stood on two legs and shook a tree to intimidate them as they backed out. That night at camp their stacked firewood was moved, and a neighboring camper said he saw two silhouettes moving it.

Years later the first witness was told by a construction worker about a camping trip with others along the same creek. The group saw strange moving lights, felt a sudden whirlwind, then heard growling and tree-breaking and footsteps in the creek as they fled. For six to eight months an elderly farmer and his wife reported nightly tapping that followed them room to room, shadows outside windows, a barn door torn open, missing dog food and missing outdoor dogs, and a low voice whispering the indoor dog's name. The responding deputy initially suspected neighbors, moonshiners or a grow operation, but later found a large hand-like dent in the house and an 18-inch footprint in the creek that he cast. The cast was later reported to show dermal ridges and to be considered authentic east of the Mississippi.

The witness's brother was driving a tractor home late at night when he noticed two large hair-covered figures walking parallel to the road along a fence line. He described the taller one as about seven to eight feet tall, bulky with long swinging arms, and watched them continue along the timber. They heard heavy footsteps, snapping twigs and rustling circling them in the dark but could see nothing. When they drove away, the witness looked back and saw a tall, broad, long-armed silhouette step into the light under a street lamp, prompting them to flee. She later heard that a woman's mutilated body was found in the park, after which the park was placed under a nighttime curfew.
