While driving up a mountain road toward a ski area in the early afternoon, the witness and a relative saw a very tall dark figure through a gap in trees from a slowly moving car. The figure was walking away at an angle with long strides and prominent arm swing before passing out of view after about five seconds. The driver did not see it, and the observers were frightened and continued driving without stopping.

A couple sitting at a picnic table beside a small pond noticed leaves fluttering with no wind and then saw a very large dark figure about 30 yards away in the treeline swaying back and forth. Six people were camping together on a ridge between two rivers over Labor Day weekend. Starting early Saturday morning and continuing Saturday night into Sunday morning, they heard series of very loud roar-like vocalizations from a creek bed several hundred yards away. The sounds lasted up to 45 minutes at a time, frightened the group and a dog, and led a camper to ready a pistol. Steep terrain prevented them from investigating for tracks.

A hair-covered upright creature crossed the road ahead, paused near the roadside while watching the witness, then left into the woods. Around 12:37 a.m. the witness was driving on Route 8 when a tall dark-furred creature carrying a deer ran into the roadway. The front passenger corner of the car struck the creature, which then slid down the length of the vehicle causing extensive damage from hood to rear. The frightened witness did not stop and continued driving.

The witness was driving home in the early morning through a heavily wooded area when a tall, thin figure darted across the road from left to right ahead of the vehicle. The figure crossed both lanes in a few fast strides and was no longer visible when the witness slowed and approached the area. The witness first wondered if it was a person but noted its unusual speed.

The witness was at home in bed when repeating loud whoop-like sounds woke him and seemed to approach the house, getting louder and more frequent. He woke his wife, who also heard the sound, and went to the back door with a shotgun. When the sound was very close, he fired three rounds toward it, after which the vocalizations stopped and the source receded through the woods behind the house and was never heard again.

They retreated inside as stones continued to strike the cabin on multiple sides. The father then saw a large dark figure run bipedally across the driveway, and impacts on the cabin walls continued late into the night.

The witness was driving south on US 33 near Plattsburg late at night when an upright animal crossed the road west to east in front of the vehicle. The animal moved very quickly from the ditch to a fence, braced with its left hand and jumped over with both feet into corn. The witness described a very tall, stout, shaggy light red-brown animal seen in side profile without a clear view of head or feet.

During a day hike the witness left a recorder on the truck windshield to monitor activity around the vehicle. The recorder captured a prolonged grunting sequence accompanied by knocks. The witness later compared the sounds to known animals and primate recordings.
