The witness was sleeping in a parked semi-truck in a pine forest with an alarm set for 4:15 a.m. The witness awoke minutes early, stepped out to look around and saw nothing, then got back in the truck. While back inside, the witness heard a loud high-pitched whooping sound echoing through the forest that the witness had never heard before.

The witness was archery hunting on a trail at dusk after separating from a companion to go different directions. After hearing an unfamiliar deep yelping sound and then loud wood-splintering, the witness saw a head-and-shoulders shape with no visible neck beyond a log. When the shape swiveled slightly, the witness backed away and returned quickly to the vehicle, visibly frightened.

After a loud road-blasting explosion and rockslide, the witness heard a very large animal crashing through brush and trees. Then prolonged howling and screaming began from across the lake and continued for about half an hour. Alone at camp, the witness waited in a tent with a rifle until companions arrived and no further sounds were heard.

Right afterward the witness heard a large animal crashing through brush and then prolonged howling and screaming from across the lake for about half an hour. Friends arrived later and heard nothing further that night.

The witness braked hard and briefly saw the figure from the side and rear in the headlights as it went up a bank into the woods. The figure was described as tall, powerfully built and long-haired with no visible neck.

As he looked up, he saw a large, heavily built, reddish-haired hominoid-like figure standing by a tree about 25 yards away. The figure looked at him briefly and then walked into thick brush.

The witness and a companion were elk hunting on foot in fresh snow in the morning. The witness was using an elk call when a large dark figure was seen standing across a clearcut, watching for about 30 seconds before turning with a distinctive upper-body swing and walking uphill into dense aspen. The companion dismissed it without observing it, and a later binocular scan found no further movement.

The witness was mining on a creek when movement caught attention. On standing, the witness saw a creature described as a Bigfoot peering from behind a tree about 60-75 yards away. The creature looked upstream toward the witness's companion, then leapt over rocks while staying low and disappeared. The witness slipped on mossy rocks while backing away, injuring an arm, then hurried up the trail.

While biking out on the service road they hit a strong rancid smell they could not source and both felt they were being watched in still, quiet conditions. The witness and a relative were camping in the Colville National Forest when they heard a loud howl or scream from the woods northwest of their campsite in the early morning. The sound was compared to a recording attributed to a Bigfoot group and followed a couple of hours of complete forest silence. No visual contact was reported.

Two companions fishing from a canoe at dusk noticed a dark crouched shape on the shoreline about 50 yards away. As they rowed closer the shape stood upright to about seven feet, looked toward them, turned toward a twig-snapping sound behind it, then spun and ran into the forest with further movement sounds heard. After waiting in the canoe, they paddled ashore and found two obscured marks in the sand where it had turned.

The witness and a companion were archery hunting in high-elevation basins in western Colorado when they heard a single, extremely loud scream lasting several seconds from the direction of their camp. They initially attributed the sound to a mountain lion, but acquaintances who hunt mountain lions did not recognize the described sound. Years later, after hearing a purported Bigfoot vocalization on television, the witness reconsidered the 1996 incident as possibly Bigfoot-related.

The witness, part of a six-person archaeology survey crew hiking an overgrown logging grade on Pelican Butte, describes finding a large ground structure of pine needles and twigs after following an owl uphill. The crew estimated it at about seven feet across and interpreted it as a possible bigfoot nest in a remote area unused for decades. No creature was seen and no photograph was taken.

The witness and a relative were bow hunting in a burned area of Deschutes National Forest in the early afternoon. The witness found 8 to 12 large human-like footprints estimated at 12 to 15 inches long with long strides. No creature was seen and no unusual sounds were heard. After about 30 minutes the pair felt uneasy and left, having also noted unusual quiet before finding the prints.

The witness was driving home after dusk and slowed to turn onto a gravel road when a shape was noticed in the ditch. Thinking it might be an escaped horse, the witness aimed the truck headlights toward it for a better view. The figure was covered in dark brown hair and moved away rapidly while walking upright. The witness, frightened at not recognizing it, left the area and went home.

The witness hiked alone on a forested trail in eastern Tennessee. He noticed a shadow and heard loud bipedal footsteps that circled and then followed him. When he stopped the steps stopped, and when he ran the steps stayed close. He left the trail without ever seeing what made the sounds.
