The witness was camping in tents with five companions. In the early morning after going to bed, she and one companion heard two very loud vocalizations combining screaming and grunting, with the second appearing to move quickly. Later she heard heavy bipedal footsteps in camp, and in the morning bottled water was missing from a cooler while other food remained.
Possible vocalizations south of Sturgeon Lake
The witness was asleep at home when a very loud screaming and howling sound woke him around 3 a.m. He went to the front door to listen as the sound quieted, describing it as similar to recorded whoop-howls and unlike coyotes he had heard before. He estimated a single caller a quarter to a half mile to the southwest, noting dogs and livestock reacted to it before it stopped.
Snowmobilers find several sets of large tracks on the Gun Flint Trail (w/photos)
The witness was snowmobiling with two companions in the Boundary Waters area when they found large human-like footprints in snow crossing lakes. They photographed the tracks over three days in March 2007 and reported measurements of about 16 inches long with a roughly six-foot stride. No figure was seen, only the tracks and an apparent light in one distant photo.
Possible daylight sighting by motorist on a gravel road south of Sturgeon Lake
The witness was driving on a road through pine forest and saw a large black human-shaped figure standing in the road about a quarter-mile ahead. The figure appeared startled, turned, and moved quickly off the east side of the road as the witness descended into a dip. After a brief loss of sight, the figure had vanished despite open visibility into the woods, and subsequent searches found only scattered garbage and no tracks.
Possible nighttime sighting by motorist near Ball Club
The witness was driving east on Highway 2 east of Ball Club late at night when she noticed a large brown hairy figure standing off the side of the road. The figure appeared to be waiting to cross toward a nearby lake and did not look at her vehicle. She continued driving without stopping and later returned in daylight but remained in her vehicle.
County workers find possible footprints near Bena
A county road worker grading a gravel road noticed large human-like footprints and stopped to inspect them. The trackway included 16 to 18 prints crossing from a swamp with heel-to-toe progression, long stride, and deep impressions. Agency staff later made molds and reportedly found additional prints in the swamp, and the reporter later visited the site to view the tracks.

The witness and a companion were leaving home by car in the morning when they noticed a tall black hair-covered biped walking away down a dirt road. They watched it alternate between the road and ditch until it entered the woods out of sight. Afterward a relative and another person found multiple footprints along the road and photographed the clearest track.
Daylight sighting by squirrel hunter near Spring Valley
The witness left his truck to hunt squirrels and noticed movement about 175 feet away through brush, fence and creek. What first looked like a large flapping turkey stood up on two legs and ran very fast and quietly, followed by a larger reddish animal that briefly stumbled then sprinted after it into thick brush toward the swamp. The witness crossed to the spot, found only soft indentations, followed briefly toward the swamp, then left after becoming frightened that the animals might have circled behind him.
Possible encounter with sled dog caretakers at an outdoor freezer near Isabella
The witness and a companion were working late at night preparing meat to feed sled dogs. While inside a walk-in freezer, the heavy door shut on them unexpectedly despite calm conditions. After exiting, they shone a light toward a trailer and saw a pair of very large reflective eyes about seven feet off the ground roughly twenty yards away. The eyes were gone after they returned with a brighter light, and the dogs that had been barking fell silent.
Footprints found in the snow in Red Lake
Large footprints were reported on Feb. 6, 2005 in Red Lake, Minnesota, found along a swamp, near an elementary school, and around homes. The prints were described as about 17 inches long and 6 inches wide with a long stride, with over a hundred found. Woman-like screams were reported from the swamp area while dogs were barking around 2 a.m.

In November 2004 the witness was talking on the phone in the kitchen at night when he saw a large bipedal animal run past the barn. The animal was illuminated by the yard light for two seconds or less at about fifty yards distance. He estimated its height by comparison to a six-foot barn door and described it as dark, furry, and stocky with no obvious neck. He searched the next day but found no tracks because the ground was frozen with no snow.

The witness and a companion were anchored in a boat at night hearing loud bipedal footsteps approach through riverside woods. He switched on bright boat headlights and saw a very large, dark, hairy ape- and human-like figure at the tree line about 20 to 30 feet away that looked shocked and tried to hide behind a cottonwood. The witness panicked, pulled anchor and fled, later revisiting to estimate the figure was at least a foot to a foot and a half taller than himself with massive girth.

About 10-15 feet away a large bipedal figure over 7 feet tall moved silently across the yard, paused to turn its head toward the witness, then continued in a smooth gliding motion down an embankment toward a creek and into the woods. The witness grabbed a flashlight but saw and heard nothing further, later noticing fine dust particles hanging in the air where the figure had paused.

The witness's sled dogs then erupted in howling. The witness looked out the window but saw nothing, and the next day searched for tracks but found none, noting three stripped beaver carcasses with skeletons stacked facing the same way.

The witness stepped into the yard on a Sunday night and heard frantic dog barking and wolf howling overlain by loud, prolonged wailing unlike any known animal. The wailing source held position briefly then moved rapidly northeast around the lake, causing underbrush disturbance and loud ice crushing before falling silent. The background animals also fell silent, then erupted again minutes later without the wailing resuming.
Dusk sighting by cyclist north of the town of Virginia
The witness was riding a bicycle on a dirt road in the evening when they saw a tall, lanky, black-furred creature about 300 feet away on a hill at the forest edge. The creature looked at the witness, then crouched and walked upright up the hill into the forest. The witness felt scared, left in the opposite direction, and reported the encounter years later after hearing a scientist discuss the subject.
