The witness walked into a creek to look for surface artifacts and climbed out of the creek bed. About 20 feet away he saw a hair-covered creature sitting asleep against an oak tree with its hands locked across its knees. He dropped back into the creek out of sight, after which the creature got up and ran east across a gravel road.

The witness and a companion were camping overnight in a tent near a river when, about 15 minutes after turning in, they heard an extremely loud primal scream from very close range. The witness estimated the sound came from several feet off the ground and within a few dozen yards and remained in the tent out of fear. No visual contact or physical traces were reported.

Woman sees large upright figure cross road near midnight
The witness was sitting on back porch steps late at night waiting for her boyfriend when she saw a large upright figure cross the road about 150 feet away near a streetlight. The figure continued across and disappeared behind tall shrubs along a neighbor's driveway. Neighbor's penned hunting dogs then began barking intensely, and the witness went inside; her mother and boyfriend heard the dogs but did not see the figure.

The witness and a relative were hunting geese from a concealed blind in a harvested field when they noticed movement to the east. They observed a tall black figure in side profile walking very fast while stooped over, heading north toward a gravel pit until it left their line of sight. They walked to the area afterward but found no tracks, noting the ground was frozen and the figure had been on a gravel road.

As a paperboy delivering newspapers in Eldridge in early February 1981, the witness found very large human-like footprints in snow crossing the town from northeast to southwest, and found a second set retracing the route in reverse the next morning. Several days later, while delivering Sunday papers with his father driving, the witness tossed a paper against a door and immediately heard a loud scream from beside the house that he attributed to the same creature. The witness never saw the animal itself.

On a January 1976 afternoon the witness walked alone to a country club hill to sled. At the top he found bare footprints in snow with clear toe and heel outlines, sunk deep and spaced about three of his strides apart, running north to south into trees. Four girls were riding horses on a moonlit night when their horses stopped and focused on a hilltop ahead. They heard a loud guttural growl mixed with vowel-like sounds and wood snapping, which frightened them. They galloped back to the farm where they were staying. The next morning they found a small wooden corral they had built on that hilltop broken apart.

Four college students were driving slowly on a snow-covered road at night when a large hair-covered biped came from a field toward the road. It stepped over fences and ditches and crossed in front of their car from right to left without looking at them. In September 1970 the witness and her husband were hiking a deserted trail in Pikes Peak State Park toward the Mississippi River overlook. From behind trees they heard extremely loud thumping sounds followed by an unfamiliar loud scream, without seeing the source. Frightened, they ran back to the ranger station to report what happened. Years later after watching television programs, the witness concluded the sounds were likely made by a bigfoot.

In summer 1970 the witness parked at a Stone State Park overlook at night with three companions. While he lay on a blanket with his date near bushes, a very loud scream erupted from very close by. The creature had a foul smell. The witness returned the next day and found large smudged footprints in the road and cornfield.

In the summer of 1959 the witness was working as a counselor at a wooded Girl Scout camp. Over roughly two weeks, staff repeatedly heard footsteps moving through the tent area after dark, saw a dark figure near a hut, and found a director's tent ransacked, with deputies searching each day without finding anyone. On the final night the group heard extremely loud screams that moved from near a remote tent toward a pond and creek and found a large maple branch freshly broken off, leading the witness years later to wonder if the visitor had been a Bigfoot.
