Hunter hears wood-on-wood knocking
The witness was hunting alone on foot in the morning when he heard repeated groups of rapid wood-on-wood impacts ahead of him. He followed the sounds as they stayed ahead until they were close but still hidden by a rise across a creek, then became uneasy and retreated to the road and camp. He stayed in the camper the rest of the day. Years later after reading a newspaper account of tree-whacking, he concluded the sounds were Bigfoot communication.

The witness describes riding horses with a friend for several days and stopping at a spring. He walked to a cliff after smelling a strong odor and saw a huge hairy human-like figure. He spoke to it, heard it grunt and growl, heard a distant whoop and a loud tongue-pop like a wood knock, then watched it climb the cliff with its arms and disappear.

The witness drove off a gravel road to follow an old trail and entered a small meadow around noon. A hair-covered juvenile rose from behind a log, glanced at him, then dropped to all fours and walked quickly into the treeline. The witness followed on foot partway, heard sharp knocking sounds from two directions, and then left the area. He later estimated the log distance at about forty-one yards.

While fishing with a parent on a cold morning, the witness noticed a tall thin creature lying on its stomach behind a hollow log across the stream watching them. After the parent also saw it, a loud sharp crack behind them drew their attention, and the creature leapt over the log and crossed the stream in three steps before disappearing across the road into trees. The parent hurried them out and warned the witness never to tell anyone.

Four young people camped overnight in a wooded area in summer 1987. During the night they heard knocking, whooping, and footsteps around their tent, and something stepped on a companion's hand through the tent wall. The witness and three companions were on a canoe-camping trip in the Boundary Waters. While visiting a creek waterfall alone, the witness heard circling footsteps and loud wood-on-tree knocks, then returned to camp. The group returned together, heard knocks nearby, and one companion briefly chased the sound before feeling lured away. That night they heard a loud splash near their island camp, and at dawn found a very large wet footprint by their canoes before leaving the area.

Man recalls incident while camping as a teenager near Cedarville
Two teenagers camped on a mountain logging road were harassed by thrown sticks, loud grunting and tree-banging sounds, and a strong foul odor. When they shone a light into the woods about 25 yards away, they saw a very tall fur-covered figure that ducked behind a tree. They put out their fire and fled down the trail, saying the figure followed them most of the way back.

The witness was scouting high-elevation timber for a later elk hunt when he noticed tree breaks, pushovers and tracks. From boulders he glassed about eight hairy bipeds with young, watching them for about half an hour as some appeared to hide at a choke point while others circled. He concluded they were hunting deer and left with his companion before dark.

Three hunters camped in a river bottom over the opening weekend of bow season. Over several days and nights they reported heavy impacts, rustling, a skunk-like odor, red eyeshine, wood knocks, whistles, talk-like mumbling, a whoop-ending vocalization, and bent trees and branch structures. The most intense moment was a predawn episode with a deep guttural roar followed by a scream-like sound near camp. They left early after smelling the odor again near a plum thicket.

Over following months they heard screams and knocks, found a large footprint with ridges, a distressed horse, and disturbed hay resembling a nest in the barn loft. A large creature then came down the ridge into the creek, growled at them from about 20 yards, and left. A DNR officer later found prints, cast them, and called them bear tracks.

Three children walking on a wooded footpath noticed a tall female-like figure with a smaller juvenile standing by a tree off to the side. The larger figure stared at them, gave off a dead-animal smell, stepped toward them, growled and bared its teeth after being pointed out. The group fled toward a residence while hearing branches breaking, prolonged howling and screaming, and trees being beaten.

The witness and companions were parked late at night at a cul-de-sac off Fitzsimmons Road. They heard successive sets of loud wood-on-wood knocks that sounded progressively closer, from a few hundred yards away to within tens of yards. Frightened as the sounds approached without any visible source or movement noise, they fled in their truck without seeing what made the sounds.
Two hunters got the terrifying feeling they were being watched and followed
While heading back to their truck at dusk during an elk hunt, the witness and a companion felt watched and heard a loud scream lasting several minutes from behind trees, along with banging and branch breaking. They hid behind boulders with rifles but nothing emerged. They then left for the truck about a half mile away.

The witness and three companions were coon hunting at night with three hounds along a logging road beside a swamp. The dogs yelped in fear and ran past the group back toward the truck. The group heard a deep growl and loud limb breaking and wood knocking moving toward them from the swamp, then left the woods and found the dogs shaking in their boxes on the truck.
Memory told of a possible encounter while coon hunting near Houston
On a moonlit night in late October 1975, the witness was coon hunting along a ridge when both dogs became frightened and stayed by him. He heard a low moaning sound, a rock-throw-like crash into a brush pile, two tree-strike-like impacts, and something moving through leaves down a steep wooded slope. He called out but saw nothing and ended the hunt.
